Hi - first time posting here, though have been lurking for a while. I receive Income related ESA, support group. Have done for some years and have been left alone. I've just received a letter from DWP saying they want to look at my claim., but the letter says they want to decide if I'm eligible for ESA from January 2013, and if I am I might be eligible for extra payments But this is what I already get! I hate contacting them and rocking the boat, so thought maybe this is just a clerical error and should ignore it.

Hi Iv answer you on the other thread about this letter , good luck

Hey thanks! Saw that thread after posting. This stuff always panics me. Nice to know I'm not alone.

@AndyP,
by the looks of the other thread thread and info there it’s maybe about money your entitled too.
Id call them and if it is then do the claim over the phone, be quicker than waiting on a claim form.
You not alone here -
Should say though that I'm already on income related ESA not contribution based, so why they should be deciding if I'm eligible from 2013 when I already get it is confusing and a bit worrying....

One way to find out lol.
I know it’s scary phoning them, I’d don’t ever. If I need to then I ask someone to call for me, i then just need to answer security questions.
I think it’s about the other things you should have received not necessarily income or contributions based.
Let me know what they say and Iv got my fingers crossed your in for back pay -
Hi @AndyP, welcome to the community! Glad to hear there is another thread that is able to help you with this. Fingers crossed you are able to get things sortedScope

Took the leap and phoned. Although I'm supposed to be on income related and had a letter saying so I actually wasn't, so yes, they owe me! Didn't do it on the phone - no rush, they owe me from 2013, and don't like talking to them. So I'll get the form. Very unusual, communication from DWP that's actually good news....

@AndyP glad to hear it is good news through! Fingers crossed it can be sorted quickly!Scope
