Is anyone else having a problem with opening jars, for people with arthritis?

There are various aids for the elderly and disabled to use to open such things. Have a look around appropriate shops and ask their advice or look online on disability aid sites.

@nf1150 Hi
Oh yes most definitely . I went to my local chemist and spoke to them .
They have a catalogue of disability products . I ended up with what looks like a giant nut cracker , but in fact it fits around the lid and you squeeze the handles together and twist in open direction . Hope this can help. -
No @nf1150, I have no trouble opening jars most of the time, just now and again when they are extra tight or the rim has become sticky with the contents. My hands were never overly strong but more so than average. I have little or no arthritis but the cervical damage has reduced my grip somewhat and, at some point, I will have problems especially as inactivity is accelerating muscle wastage.
If you don't need to reseal the jar then piercing the lid will release the negative pressure and allow easier opening. A swift tap on the end of a dinner knife when the blade is in contact with the centre of the lid is usually sufficient.

I haven't got arthritis in my hands but I have really bad trigger finger and it affects all of my fingers including my thumbs. I find it really hard to open jars and I can't use normal can opener. I have got a special gadget for open bottles and jars and an electric can opener.

Yes, with RA I can't open bottles and some jars. I have some devices that help.
