I had a motobility car, some yrs ago in N Wales. As i was unable to find an instructer with handcontrols,i had handcontrols in my car.Because i could an instructer to teach in my car,it had to go back.
I have now moved to Aberdeenshire and have the same problem. No instructor with a suitable car.My new car is expected in feb, with handcontrols. How do i find a suitable instuctor,or do i haveto cancelmy car.I live in a remote area, and i need to drive.I rang both BSM /AA,the people i spoke to thought i was joking.

I had the same problem in 2015 and it seems noone has done anything aboit it.
The driving schools are the JOKE they should know not everyone can handel a avarage car.
Iit was the assessment place that found me an instructor.
So you need to go on the internet. Put in the DVAL its going to be .org and look for their phone number. Call them and tell them you need an instructor that teaches disabled people.
I tryed just putting it on the net but got dingbats. So its best to go through the DVAL
    Good luck

The driving schools are not a joke, it’s supply and demand, most driving instructors are self employed people running their own driving schools, even the national schools, these instructors are not employed by the organisation they rent the cars and when lesson are booked they then get referred to the nearest local agent or  instructors. Finding a instructors with adapted cars won’t be an easy task or I would think a price per hour for a standard car. Try contacting DVLA national driving schools look on line.

    These links may help.

Specialist driving instructors aren't available in all areas, doing a search is most likely the only thing you can do.

Failing this, do you have someone that can drive your car for you? This way you can still make use of having the car and will allow you to at least be able to go out.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
