Losing carers allowance

Im registered disabled and my son was getting carers allowance for me but he has got a new job that takes him over on his pay by £25 every 4 weeks he works part time my husband cant claim it as he gets his state pension just seems its unfair as i still need the help from my husband and son .

Thanks for your reply ill have a look later all i know is if he was paid monthly my son could still claim it but because he gets paid 4 weekly he cant so unfair x

Hi,Even though your husband can't be paid the carers allowance because of the aver lapping benefits rule. Claiming it could mean he'll have an underlying entitlement to it, which means if he claims pension credit then a carers premium will be added, this is an extra £36 per week for your husband. If he doesn't already claim pension credit the the underlying entitlement means he could become eligible to claim it for the first time.Thankfully your son not being able to claim the carers allowance anymore doesn't affect the money you or your partner claim.Pension and carers allowance is complicated, i'd advise a visit to your local CAB for a full benefits check.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
