I'm on the very lowest benefit on DLA, and have been struggling for the last few years, I am bowel incontinence, and wondered if I could make a claim for this,? Or would I loose my benefit completely?

Hello and welcome, I would seek advice from the CAB or another agency, as you may be made to apply for PIP .0

Hi,If you were under 65 on 8th April 2013 then you will eventually be invited to apply for PIP.0

If you were 66 on the 8th April 2013 you will NOT have to be transferred over to PIP. You are treated as not being of working age and PIP is a working age benefit (under 65)Blanchette said:I was 66 in that year .
Consequently you can ask the DWP to consider an increase of the care component.
If it was for mobility different rules apply unfortunately.

The poster already has the care element of DLA in place. They are asking how, given the extra medical & social problems they are now facing, could he get his award up lifted to either Middle rate or Higher rate care DLA. There is no point in applying for AA as that in itself is the same care element.Matilda said:You could apply for Attendance Allowance. Phone Age UK for advice.
