My girlfriend is on PIP, esa payments might be stopped?

My girlfriend has just won her appeal for pip benefits after nearly 16 months of waiting and has been awarded the enhanced rate for both elements of pip, back dated and payable for 3 years. She has been receiving income related esa for nearly 4 years and is in the support group as well as receiving extra money for the disability income guarantee. Will she still get esa as well as pip? Really confused as the dwp have just randomly paid 1 weeks worth of esa with no explanation. We had been advised all the way that pip would be paid on top of esa but really worried that the dwp might now stop esa payments.

Hi @Andy1234
Good Evening & Welcome ??
That’s great news for the “pip”
Yes it’s well worth pushing all of the way.
The “pip & esa”are completely different benefits.
So you will find that the one doesn’t effect the other.
Here’s some info on “Benefit’s” for you:

Please please let me know if I can help you further???

Thanks Steve51, we are just really confused as dwp had paid 1 week of esa today (yes saturday), they have never paid just 1 week before and can't speak to them till monday, so my mind is racing now wondering why they have done that? It has only been 2 weeks since pip appeal was won and have been told we won't hear anything on that side till late January.

Hi @Andy1234
No probs!!!!!
Please please don’t worry!!!!!
The payment off (esa)
doesn’t have a bearing on the (pip appeal)
They are both “Different”
Pip:
1. daily living.
2. mobility.
https://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/benefits/pip
Esa:
Unable to work.

Please please let me know if there’s anything else that I can help/support you with???? -
Thanks but any ideas why they would just randomly pay 1 week of esa without telling us why. It has always been received every 2 weeks for nearly 4 years, we were relying on the usual fortnightly payment next week to pay the bills. I'm now wondering could they change the payment date without telling us or could they be putting everything into u.c. without telling us. If we don't get the usual fortnightly payment next week we will be in a mess.

Thanks for your help, so does pip definitely not affect or stop esa payments. I will ring dwp on Monday to find out why they have paid us differently from usual amount.
-
Hi @Andy1234
No they are completely different benefits so don’t worry please !!!!!!
Yes please please wait until Monday!!!!
Sorry for another question but was it for the normal amount???
-
No, the strange thing was they only paid half so 1 weeks worth and she had only had the usual 2 weeks worth last week, very strange
-
Hi@Andy1234
No Probs I will check this out for you!!!!!
“Please please don’t worry”
Please please leave it with me & I will check it out for you!!!!!! -
Hi @Andy1234
I have just checked mine but they seem okay.
Please please don’t worry there must be a logical reason !!!!!
Did you say that the amount was different????
-
Hi the dwp have msgs on their phone lines, mine wasn't due until next week I got a payment for a week today and will get a week next week all payments across the board from what I could work out where wrong. I also had 2 weeks last week.. hope this helps.

The 1 week payment that was received is a computer glitch and has happen to alot of people that are due a payment on around the 7th/8th January. As has been advised claiming PIP won't stop the ESA payments because they're different benefits.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
