Anxious about waiting time

Hello. Pleased to be on here now. I have received a letter re they have enough evidence to reach a decision re whether to award me PIP. Then I had a few very rare and good days and wrote to them, saying I’d been well about a week, and clarifying some issues, which I realise could have been written better. I really hope ive not messed thinhs up. I’ve read some threads on pip, and am going to take the advice offered to someone else, on Monday, and ring them. It’s severe and enduring mental illness, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, M.E. (Thé m.e. in remission now) and hypothyroidism that I struggle with as well as being immunosuppressed due to the meds. I’m trying not to get anxious about this. Anyone know how long it may be until I hear? Especially having sent that letter just the day before receiving a DWP letter stating they have enough evidence.

Hi @neenthebean welcome to the community! Unfortunately, there is no specific waiting time for a PIP decision. It can depend on if there is a backlog of claims in your local area. Let us know how you get on on Monday :)

Aw, thank you, @steve51, thanks very much. I am hoping I didn’t screw the decision up, by my letter re on my much better week. We will see. I do that, when having a better day or week i tend to think I’d best say , I just hope this doesn’t backfire. I spent 25 years in 24/7 mental health care, then 3-4 years alone in community, then, after a vile attack and torture, the past two years initially being cared for by carers in lancs, where I fled to, then here, by my parents (when unwell). I’m not fit to be working yet, or even in a vol job. Soooo hoping ive not messed thé decision up.

Ok, @steve51 thanks for clarifying. That’s cool, that you do this. Ah, it’s ok, i dont think i need help with anything yet, until and if I hear negatively from PIP - highly unlikely due to thé heaps of evidençe i have, but nothing is beyond dwp these days, so we shall see. Thank you Steve.

    Hi @neenthebean

    That will be great ?

Yes I am just working through mine currently.

Did you sent plenty of info with your’s.

Just compiling mine as we speak.

I have to do it in stages health permitting.

Hiya @steve51 ah, i hope it works out ok for you. I didn’t send heaps of info no, as everyone told me you always get a face to face assessment, so I left the details out for the face to face assessment. I used CAB to do mine, it was just a few words really to each answer. But they must have got in touch with my various specialists, and the hospitals etc. As my evidençe is all wrapped up in the hospital stays, of late, and everything else the experts are privy to. I really hope you get CAB or a similar org to help with it, as they know best, i guess. Just be wary of not sending in every scrap of evidençe you can get your hands on, and good luck Steve!

    Hi,

They very rarely contact anyone for any evidence. The onus is always on the claimant to make sure they send it to support their claim.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Oh ok poppy123456 that’s confusing. Hmmm. Ah, maybe i sent in more evidençe than I remember. My memory isn’t the best. I know I wanted to find more of the evidence letters than I could, but I guess I must have sent enough in. So sorry if I confused things.

@steve51 hi there Steve, again, I’ve just found, after some searching, the record of what I did send in : additional info on the back (about an A4 page of it), and four letters of evidençe from specialists and from hospital discharge letters. Hope that helps!! I used to send in stacks of hand-written stuff ie about how my conditions affect me. And I’d always prior had the interviews so maybe that’s the key: specialist letters and concise self-report? What do others think? I know that the budgets have been cut, cut and cut, and I know last time, despite for a year prior and ever since, not being able to use public transport, ever since the horrendous attack, they refused to give me any mobility component. So I’m holding my breath re potential outcomes. It’s nerve-wracking i know - I wouldn’t barely cope financially. All the best, Steve. Keep us updated, eh. We need to all stick together: i personally feel that we as a group are valued as of zero use to society by the government, it’s appalling.

I've waited before about 7-8 weeks. From start to finish. Try not to worry especially after the "Seasonal" holiday they are probably still catching up even two months on.

@steve51 yes, it’s horrible isn’t it. It makes you feel sick with worry. Let us know how you get on. I think we as a group should stick together, support each other, and even fight on one another’s behalf, if we are able to. It’s a complete nightmare. I honestly hope it all goes smoothly for you. And yes, the more evidence you can send in, the better, I guess. Bless you Steve.

@steve51 I didn’t mean, btw, that anyone should fight on my behalf, but maybe we can stick together as a group within society, and if you need to talk, I’m here.
