Hi my name is Kirsty and I have a daughter called Heidi she is 11 years old and has cerebral palsy she is a clever little girl and is in mainstream school Heidi is able to use the toilet with assistance from a hoist as she is getting older I am really struggling to left her when out in public as not many places have hoists, I am really starting to lose the will why arent they mandatory she has a right to use the toilet as much as anybody else I feel nobody is listening to me and am scared she will soon become isolated as there will be a point I an no longer lift. Please any advice would be great also I do have a portable hoist but is a heavy piece of equipment to take out by myself and 90 percent of the time the bathroom has been too small to fit in ?

Hi @1985Kirsty
Good to meet you!
The lack of suitable toilet facilities is so frustrating. There is a great organisation called Changing Places they have maps to show where to find toilets with hoists.
There still aren't enough of these facilities though, I agree. That's why Scope and Changing Place are fighting hard for this to change.
If you would like to talk further please get in touch
