Hi @Toddster, and a warm welcome to the community!
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sure many of our members will be able to relate to your situation (myself included!). It can be hard finding something that works for you, but there are flexible, part-time options out there. If you haven't already, I'd recommend looking at Scope's Support to Work programme, and consider getting in touch!Support to Work is an online and telephone support programme for disabled people in England and Wales who are applying for jobs.
Eligibility
Support to Work is open to disabled people who:- are 16 years or over
- are looking for a paid job
- have internet, email and telephone or Skype access
- live in England or Wales

Hi@Toddster,
First of all, welcome to the community!
I'm sorry to hear about the difficult situation that you are in and I understand that it might be frustrating.
When you say working 24 hours per week wouldn't leave you better off, would you be worse off or about the same as now?
When it comes to your travel expenses you could try to get support through the Access to work grant scheme.
You can read more about it here;
https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/access-to-work-grant-scheme
I'm not sure if you have challenged the PIP decision but if you are considering doing so , if you haven't already, you can find information and advise on how to do so here:
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/appeals/mandatory-reconsideration/
I wish you all the best!
Kind Regard
Pia
