PIP Motobility

Since you don’t drive and as long as your friend does not use the car for his personal use and be seen and reported for doing so then having a mobility car will allow you to be driven for shopping, appointments and days out. Good luck and enjoy your new found freedom.

I am one of the team of community champions who help and advise new members who join the forum.

Reading your personal circumstances. Especially having to employ people to help you shop.

Please can I suggest have a look at on line shopping .  All you need is a credit or debit card from any bank or building society.

Many of the major supermarkets do home delivery service some even late at night.

I use TESCO come right into the home and into the kitchen.  Unpack every thing.  Lot easier.  Also very useful. On the Patient Access website so delivery of prescription to home.  Apply to Doctors surgeries.

From Doctors to Chemist nominated to my home.

Use Amazon for anything else clothes household and the rest.

Banking do on line.

Not able to cook.  I understand that. Look on line for companies that specialise in frozen meals to your home. Deliver and put into a freezer for you.

These are microwave meals.  Pay for so much a week buy on line for options lots available.

I have mental health issues and a disability .  Use a lot of things on line.

Have no car now lost that due to PIP assessment made a choice to not have to go through appeal.  Too much anxiety and stress plus a financial incentive worth thinking about.

Use taxis. Many taxi firms want your business, have and do take members of our community. Many are aware of the problems with PIP. Loss of cars, book on line or use texts to book .

Have a look many are a lot cheaper that you think. If looking at costs versus what you might outlay for a car.

Something to consider, also many do door to door.

Sorry to jump into the discussion, but I have read a few of the posts and perhaps someone may know an answer to my question. In particular hi @thespiceman as you seem to know a lot being a community champion.
I have received my mandatory consideration and it has not changed the original decision. I did not score on mobility needs and now it could be the time to tell motability that the car can go back. I am asking if I still go onto appeal will I still be paid the part of the PIP award they have given me or does that stop until after the appeal?
The anxiety and stress has already dragged me down into depression and not sure if I can hold out for an appeal.

Motability told me I can keep the car even up to the appeal as long as I keep them in the loop what is happening although I have heard that appeals are taking about one year so all this waiting is such a stress trigger and I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of it. If I still get paid the award they have given me I may consider appealing but if that stops then I am financially unable to keep going. Any advice is appreciated. thank-you.

Hello @hvc19oct   Thank you for reply. Sorry to hear all this. Please can I suggest try to put some of the things I have advised into place.

No one wants to lose their independence the loss of dignity.

I live on my own and know need to put plans, guidelines into place to prevent myself from being ill.

Having a illness or condition or disability is how you deal with it. Always difficult to cope some days not good some days average other days.

It is finding an equal balance. 

I am not an expert, professional but we all of us have talents, skills, abilities we use with out realising it.

The most important thing about coping an dealing with anything is to make it simple.  Why rush about shopping instead on line choosing and paying your goods . In a warm house. Anytime you wish to.

Also make everything simple that needs to be simple.  Stress and anxiety are my enemies so why do I need to bring them to my mind.

You mentioned Physio accident waiting to happen.  Then do small steps think and plan. Get a diary make some plans and goals to cope.

Stress if causing these issues and problems find sensible, practical solutions to deal with any of it.

Reasons I do a lot of the statements in my post to you.  What I do. Except the cooking do that.  Have fingers missing, standing issues and cutting, dicing food.  Memory problems.

Use time savers, short cuts, blenders, food processors. Limited ingredients.

Need a plan always.  Write down what I need to do tonight.

Same with anything phoning some one or speaking to some one.

These are just suggestions and ideas.  Over a long thirty years been on my own every day.

Please can I add why do you need the hassle of a car if it is being a problem.  Adding controls and more expense.

More stress may I add. Plus anxiety.

Something to think about.

hi, and thank-you to  @CockneyRebel for letting me know about keeping the award they have already set me.

All these problems are sent to test us. I need to make up mind about the appeal now it is all more stress.

I was going to hand back the car if things did not go my way as tired of the fight but three days before I had my award letter I had a fall and that was all part of my mobility problems long term back pain and sciatica with left knee damaged in previous fall and now arthritis in it. All this was on PIP form but a not so good assessor  said my legs were just weak and so no points for mobility, and then as I say another fall exactly same knee  and still in pain been referred back to usual place of physio and also appointment at pain management. I feel the assessor report got me this  In fact I would have handed the car back when the letter came but I was in no fit state after the fall and basically hobbled about the house for almost three  weeks with family calling in and helping me out, I told them this on mandatory reconsideration but no change out of them, so lost the chance for handing the car back and taking the offer they give to you, I think you have to hand the car back in first four weeks and now I have missed it.

If they gave you a bit longer for the car that would have been okay so maybe I might have to appeal.  Sorry to bore you and waffle on.
