Asking for appeal adjournment

Hi all can you help. I am still waiting for specialist reports from 2 different consultants and my appeal is next week. Can I ask for the appeal to be moved to a different date so I have all relevant evidence I need or is that the only date they will offer me ??

You can ask for a postponement in advance but would need to put it in writing so at this late stage that isn’t going to be dealt with in time. Therefore you will need to turn up on the day and request an adjournment. The tribunal could

    - refuse the adjournment request because they think they have enough information to make a decision.
    - refuse because there’s usually a huge delay between appealing and being listed so they may conclude you’ve had more than enough time to obtain the reports.
    - adjourn for a fixed number of weeks for you to obtain the evidence.
    - adjourn as above but also suggest you get representation.
    - as above but also ask you to obtain GP records, which nowadays are wholly free.

Hi @nikkif, did you manage to move the appeal?

No I didn't. I was let down on the morning of appeal by person helping me and taking me so had to phone and tell them I couldn't appear. Was told that they may have hearing without me or adjourn but will let me know through letter which I'm dreading to receive. .

Just an update on my appeal as I was unable to attend due to being let down by person taking me the the judge as adjourned my case in the interest of justice. Unfortunately they cannot give me a date atm so I guess it's a case of waiting again. I'm grateful that at least they have given an adjournment rather than dismissing the case completely in the favour of dwp. @Chloe_Scope
