good evening all I would not normally put up any thing to do with finances, I had an electric will chair which my husband brought myself in 2016 and it’s been a good send, I have been put on the waiting list for the NHS for a  wheelchair in 2018, I am now at the point that my wheelchair has given up the ghost. I can’t us a self  propelled chair due to a constant  Tremor in my right. I have tried all avenues to try and get help to  purchase a new or second hand or to get one on finance.  If anyone one this lovely community scope page can direct me to any one or a few people that  they would no and or would could help. Many Thanks from Krystal x

Hi @Krystal, I'm sorry your current wheelchair has broken, this must be extremely stressful! I will have a look and hope the community may be able to offer some guidance in the meantime :)

Good afternoon to u Chloe , thank u for  your reply, I appreciate it truly I do, it’s just I can’t go out like I would meet up with my daughter and take the grandchildren to the park. It’s very hard as well as I suffer from mental health  anxiety etc but hay I just found that when I could work etc and did not have a disability that people got lots of help etc. But ever since I was diagnosed with mental illness and my spaniel Disease called Arachnoiditis. It’s been a hard slog. I just have to fight for all that I need or to help me with my Disablement .  Truly  I do appreciate your message Krystal .

I can sympathise with your plight Krystal. Put pressure on your wheelchair services as when you had one they wouldn't have moved you up the list as you were adequately able to go out.
Get a letter from your doctor telling them how it's adding to your stress being unable to socialise etc.
I really hope you are sorted with a chair soon and you can enjoy life again

    Hello there @Krystal

I wondered if you knew about shopmobility. It is a scheme run by councils. They are usually in town centres. You can borrow electric/manual wheelchairs and scooters. You should be able to find their details on your local council website. It might be worth a look.

Hi all u lovely people on here ❤️?❤️so not been on here 4 over a year life been very difficult over the last year. My mobility and my lung disease does not help, as well as the mixture of my mental health ? Still wanting for my chair it’s now ready but due to Covid 19 it put everything on back burner as I say. Can I ask can anyone help with council tax benefits, we have been on U/C since 2018 I get employment support allowance, we filled in all foams extra, anyway this year a council tax bill come though and it basically said we had to pay £800,00. I made contact with them and it’s all to do with U/V credit told the council tax benefits we where getting £ 1,000 a month well what a laugh I expand to the Council tax benefits department so he asked for our payment’s from April 2019 /2020 , it has come back we have to still pay council tax which the bill is only £ 175.75 for the year but I still think this is wrong, if their is any one on here that could advise me in any way I would truly be grateful.

Hi @Krystal! Sorry you're still waiting on your chair, but good news it's finally ready! I hope it won't be too much longer until you have it.

As each council handle Council Tax Support differently it's quite difficult to offer advice on it. Most councils now require people to make a contribution even if their only income is from benefits.
If you think their calculations are incorrect it would be worth you asking them for a statement showing the income they have used in their calculations and going through it to see if anything should have been disregarded or isn't correct.
