Aids to use while bathing

I received a re-considered PIP form this week. I have made it clear to PIP that I need help to wash,dry, dress below my waist. They have replied that because I can touch my knees (in pain) I can use an aid to do these tasks. My question is what aids do the community suggest as my grabber is no use for this task. I am frustrated with the lack of empathy also!!!!!

Here is a website that has aids which can help when bathing. There are a range of sponges which you may find helpful.

I'm sorry you felt there was a lack of empathy during the assessment. I understand that they aren't the most pleasant things to go through in the first place!

Hi,

This is all part of the criteria. If you can reasonably use an aid, whether you use one or not, then you'll score points for needing one. If you can't use an aid then you need to prove why using one wouldn't be safe for you to do so.

You can self refer to adult social services for a needs assessment and an Occupational Therapist will come to your home to assess you. They will give you the aids needed to help you with daily life. There's definitely no need to buy any aids yourself.

Bath aids include electric seats the lower you into the bath which are extremely helpful. Handrails also help. You could use a chair or the bed for dressing your lower half.

Thanks for all your help, I'll check out social services. I have had occupational health in, they put in a wet room with rails and shower seat but I still can't reach down properly.
