Hi @Bluey32, I'm sorry you are in a lot of pain. I know there are days when I can be like this! Have you had a medication review recently?

Hey, yes I definitely watch the clock for my next dose of painkillers.

Welcome to the community@Chronic1978!
Is there anything I can do to help?Scope -
I've discussed my painkiller options with my pain specialist and I am on morphine based products for a non focused overall pain. How do you suggested getting back to a normal routine when you feel groggy all the time.

Hi @Chronic1978, how long have you been on this medication?
I can certainly relate to those awful side-effects. They sometimes can reduce as your body gets used to the medication, but this isn't always the case.
I found that writing out routines helps me to stick to things. I hope this helps.Scope -

Hi @Chronic1978, have you tried a similar painkiller that does the same thing, sometimes they can have different side effects.
I appreciate this is not always possible though!Scope -

Hi I suffer chronic pain and I am in an endless list of very strong pain killers . I just hate the fact that I'm never going to be able to stop taking them . I tried once went into severe withdrawal ended up on methodone to wean me off .. what a waste of time all that agoney and I'm on higher amounts than I was before !! Has to choose live in chronic pain without pain relief ? Or live in pain with them with the exaustion added on . Not much to choose from is there really ? I'm 44 and feel 84 ☹️

I have a medication app on my phone that goes off to remind me when to take my meds which also reassures me I’m taking them properly. Sometimes if I’m feeling good I take slightly less and other times I am thinking can I take a dose early. On the app I can snooze or change the time. That gives me control I think. But extra pain like today when I fell down the stairs really freaks me out as I don’t know if I will manage the pain. I can only really add paracetamol on top of my meds. But I know it will pass and I will get through it and if I don’t I will phone my g p in the morning. How do you regulate your meds?

Debbiedo49 I have my phone setup with my times and alarms.

I too set alarms for my medication. I also have it all in dosette box which allows me to know when I have taken things.Scope

Is it possible is to get drugs pre packed in a daily plan?
-
Hi @fenfisher, this is something the pharmacy is able to do for you. You normally have to speak to your GP for them to be prescribed in this way.

I am really conscious of when i am able to take my next dose of pain meds and have the ready for as soon as the alarm goes off.
I wish my gp could prescribe the thing that helps my pain and my sleep problems and anxiety. But they cant prescribe it for my condition and its been years since i have been able to find it for myself so its just a distant hope for the time being.
I am a great believer in warm baths and electric blankets for my arthritis and fibro pain, but i cant stay in bed 24/7.
Meditation and reflexology helped too. But requires being in the right frame of mind to start with and the cost of reflexology limits my access to it to once a couple of times a year. -
Hi @mrbuttons, thank you for sharing this with us. I'm sorry you haven't found anything that works really well for you. Meditation and reflexology sound interesting though! Have you ever done gentle yoga?
