Hi everybody just a quick question I to was moved from incapacity benefit to esa in 2011 was also receiving independence payment I lived alone then and know does this mean I will be untitled to my sdp premium As I started to receive this a few months ago after a phone call to Dwp? Also got sent a esa3 form which is being processed as we speak. Many thanks

    Hi,

    You will only receive SDP during that time if you were claiming a qualifying benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care. If you weren't claiming any of those at any time during the dates in the letter then you won't be entitled to the SDP.

    If you were claiming a qualifying benefit during those times you must have also lived alone or classed as living alone and no one must have claimed carers allowance for looking after you.

    Hi Poppy123456 thanks for the reply Yes I was claiming DLA and now pip daily living and also living alone and nobody claiming Carers Allowance? Many thanks

    Once a decision's been made on the ESA3 form and you're entitled to the Income Related top up then ring ESA to make a claim for the backdated SDP.

    Hi one more thing so backdated SDP don’t automatically get worked out when they work out if I get the income related top up payment esa ? Regards

    You're welcome. It may not be no because of the criteria, it's not automatically paid.
