Hi, been a while I know, however just thought I’d show you the results of a couple of better days for me.
A friend of mine makes and sell crafted sticks (walking, guiding etc; she even has a ‘husband prodder’ At the mo’! Y’know; “ok you, make us a cuppa!” Stick!) and wanted a stand to show them on so, with the weather fine and me reasonably mentally together, I dragged all the tools out of the shed (where there’s no room to swing a cat - although, maybe if I had a smaller cat . . .?)
i got the wood, just a softwood, and set about the first task after it was to size, a halving joint in the middle of the base, which considering my unfamiliarity with the new saws I was using, went really well.
The following day, I discovered my
late Uncle’s old Bosche router, and cutters, which along with my hole saw, old drills and chisels enabled me to do a more than half decent job. Yes, there are a few faults but the important bits are right and she was really pleased with it!
Glad the job was done and out of the way as this morning, with loud crashes of thunder, came the most colossal downpour, ruling out working outside for the day.

Hi Adrian, I’ve absolutely no idea yet. The challenge for me I guess is trying to reduce the amount of stuff I have, which of course means, choosing what to keep; what I might need and never be able to replace once it’s gone. Tools are like that, aren’t they! They sit on a shelf gathering dust for years forgotten about, but maybe, if they are remembered in time, they are the only tool that’ll do the job they do, and if you need them, they are irreplaceable!
which is why I’m loathe to get rid of anything; which is my big problem, lol! -
We are moving house and currently we have a double garage that my husband uses as a workshop (by workshop I mean it is rammed full of tools and projects!!) We are moving to a house with one single garage that we need to keep our campervan in, so he is currently going through everything and trying to choose what to keep and go.
He is adamant that he needs to keep so much 'just in case'

Completely agree about the tools @Smileygotwell. I keep getting convinced (read: conned) into getting rid of tools that I haven't used in 'eons'. Without fail, I end up needing them within the year.Community Manager

The opportunity for setting up a ‘tool loan’ service comes to mind ! That would be beyond me though, so I should probably start with an accurate inventory from which I can earmark items to go where I feel best suited based on the likeliness of me needing them again, or not!
ive always liked keeping my life options as open as I can in an attempt to remain as flexible and versatile as I can, so ‘loosing’ items which I have once used always feels alien to me.
Maybe though, I need more to be thinking more about whether or not in future I will WANT TO be using those tools, to do THAT particular job, bearing in mind my current physical and mental condition, any more.
Perhaps these days, just wearing the ‘been there, done that’ tee shirt is quite enough, lol! -

The gigantic sack of cables I have next to me (and dip into maybe once or twice a year at most) is proof enough.
