I just saw this really touching video on Facebook about invisible illness and it really resonated with me, except I don’t have a partner or friend  to help me Day to day like the girl in the video did.

Hi @nogravy. I'm glad the video spoke to you. Are you getting much in the way of support at all?

Not at the moment, I rang my gp the other day who were very helpful and gave me the number for some talking therapy, it’s not really the same as having company and support from loved ones x

Hi Imogen. Thank you, I really tried today, got up felt ok so did my make up etc to go out and look around the shops at the Xmas decorations to cheer myself up. Then while I was having coffee with my mum my migraine started coming back so I had to rush back home to bed. Another day wasted, I feel so fed up and lonely. How are you doing? Have you managed to do anything today? X

You're quite right @nogravy. That companionship can be invaluable. Do you have anything planned for today?

Hi Adrian. Thanks for checking in on me. I’ve had to cancel my plans today unfortunately as I’ve still got this migraine. If I feel up to it later I’ll go downstairs and watch a Christmas movie. How are you today?

Hi @nogravy. That's disappointing :disappointed: I hope your migraine passes soon.
I must admit I'm partial to a Christmas movie, but not quite as much as the kids. I've had to put a ban on them being played before November or we'd be watching The Santa Clause, The Grinch and Elf all-year-round. :grimace:

    Hi nogravy,
I’m sorry to hear you were not feeling well yesterday. Xmas shopping always offers a welcome distraction for me too. I completely understand what you mean about feeling lonely. I always intend to go out and socialise but I feel to tired in the evenings to do anything.  I did have a physio appointment yesterday and I also went to train with my wheelchair Rugby club. Do you play any sports or belong to any clubs?

Hi @nogravy and welcome to the Community.  It is nice to meet you.  How are you feeling today?  I'm sorry to hear that you have a migraine and unable to go out.  They are nasty aren't they?  I too like to go out when I can and it is lovely to go out and to look at the Christmas decorations.  I hope you manage to do that soon.  I enjoy Christmas movies too and was watching a couple at the weekend with my mum.  Do you have any hobbies you enjoy doing?  I hope you enjoy your time with us and meet some new friends here as everyone is really friendly on the Community.  If there is anything we can help you with then please just give us a shout.  All the best.

Hi @Ails and @Imogen_Steele it’s lovely to meet you both. I’ve decided I’m going to put my tree up at the weekend to cheer myself up. I just love Christmas decorations and while it may seem early I need to do something! I’ve just got back into spending time with horses after 30 years and I’m loving it! I rode for the first time a few weeks ago and am gradually building my way back up but my body is very weak after a couple of strokes. I’m really hoping my migraine will lift a bit for tomorrow so I can at least go up to the yard and have a hug! Wheelchair rugby sounds amazing, don’t you have to have nerves of steel? ?
Are you able to do anything that lifts your spirits @Ails? Xx

Nice to meet you too, @nogravy.  That's fab that you are going to put up your Christmas tree and decorations!  That will certainly cheery you up!  I enjoy putting them up too, but have to egg on my hubby to do it as he is less keen, lol!  I too would love to see some pics of your decorations.  A lot of people enjoy putting their decorations up early too and if it helps then why not?!  Your horse riding sounds fantastic!  You clearly enjoy it.  What is the name of your horse?  Horses are such beautiful animals.  Have never done it myself.  Glad to hear it is helping you and your are gradually building it up again.  I'm sure it will help you after your strokes.  I hope your migraine clears soon and you can get out and about.

I do Tai Chi which I absolutely love and it helps with my pain.  I also knit, although I am not very good, but I do try and I really enjoy card making which I find really calming and it lifts my spirits a lot when I do it.  Hope your day has been ok today.  xx

Hi @Ails, hope you’re feeling ok today. I managed to get up to see the horses for an hour which really cheered me up. There are 8 there but my two favourites are Amadeus and Kizzy. It’s an Equine Therapy Centre so we actually take the horses out to give therapy to other people, it’s so rewarding. I’d love to try Tai Chi but there isn’t anywhere near me so I do yoga and Pilates. Although I haven’t been well enough to do it for the past year I’m looking forward to starting Pilates again on Monday. Xxx

Oh wow, they are beautiful horses!  It must be a joy to ride them and so glad you made it up to see them today and that you are feeling a bit better.  That is wonderful that you ride at an Equine Therapy Centre and that you enjoy it.  Riding and seeing the horses must bring so much happiness to a lot of people.  Yes, Tai Chi is fab!  I've only been doing it a few months now and had always fancied trying it.  It really is very therapeutic and I feel good after doing it.  That's a shame that there isn't a class near you as I'm sure you would enjoy it too.  Oh that's great you do Yoga and Pilates.  Do you enjoy it?  I used to do them a few years ago too before I had my hip replacement and found it to be really good.  I hope you get to your Pilates class then and really enjoy it.  Thanks for sharing the pic of the lovely horses.  They are amazing!  xx

I don’t really get to ride as much as I would like as I have a lot of chronic pain. Equine therapy is more about spending time with the horses and learning from them how important it is to live in the moment and not worry about what just happened or what might happen next. We have amazing results with teenagers with behaviour problems and depression etc. Xx

That sounds fantastic and very worthwhile work you are doing there, @nogravy.  So glad the teenagers benefit so much from it. xx
