Very scared when I read this

Like many disabled I’m very scared of the next 5 years of tories but the attached tweet has been triggering off panic attacks

Does anyone know where and when boris originally said this and how likely this is to be made law after this mornings review

this is feels like a human rights issue and borderline slavery as no one will ever hire us or give a fair wage if they can get us for free?

I very much doubt this is what he said so I would try not to worry too much. A lot of people posted a lot of rubbish in the run up to the election.

I would say this is fake news; workfare was tried not that many years ago and almost every employer involved pulled out of the scheme as they were boycotted by people.
I would seriously suggest that no one takes any notice of this.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I have to agree with other members. It is a mixed piece of fact and fiction. There is at least one use of words which indicate this.
In fact there was very little in terms of disability and welfare from the Conservative Party and this would have been a major departure of getting his core messages across. With such a major policy change I would have expected it to have attracted much more attention.

I was always told by my father to believe nothing you read and only half what you can see and it has stood me in good stead for 74 years.

I was watching the last leg last night and the guys seemed quite concerned about what will happen to disability benefits but the government can't stop our money as many of us can't work due to our disabilities.

What human rights is that archfruit ....the people that voted Johnson is also agree with him about human rights being abolished , starting with the European court of human rights .
I despare when I saw tha t Johnson was voted in with a landslide.
He does not care much for the impoverished or the poor or disabled....we will all pay dearly now as he has all the power he needs now to look after his wealthy friends and hit the poor and disabled harder ....we should all be frightened for our future I,m afraid .???

I,m afraid Johnson can do what he wishes , the people in England do not seem to like socialist policies . The media ripped up any chance of Corbyn being voted in to power . To bad the people believe everything they read in newspapers .Thank go we are going for independence in Scotland .....which the likes of Johnson trying to stop with all his might as he and his rich friends need our oil revenues ....I,m so surprised at the ordinary working class people voting against the poverty stricken in the UK ...We will see a lot more of that now that the Tories have free reign . The first thing Johnson will do is take us out of Europe,  then he will tear up any connections with the European court of human rights, he will look after the rich and their offshore bank accounts and he will batter the poor . I am also frightened for the future under Johnson and the Tories but the English people have spoken ....that's the leader they want in charge ....self inflicted I,m afraid .

I'm no tory or Boris fan but looking from a distance he seemed to be a good mayor for London, very inclusive, but time will tell and as usual I'm not going to worry until theres something to worry about, lifes far too short.

Hi @woodbine he is the only UK mainland mayor to have bought water canons to use against the residents he was supposed to be representing, prompting Theresa May to ban their use in mainland Britain without parliament approval. That said, while some of his claimed achievements are debatable he did do a lot of good.

I hate that he has got through with such a huge majority and have some concerns based on what has been said they want to do, but like yourself see little point worrying about it until or if they happen.

Not to panic anyone, but I do a lot of campaigning on DWP policies and this shady Tory government, and have seen some very scary stuff. As stated, Boris can, and believe me he will use all the power he has, and will make UC, or any benefits as miserable as possible.

I also cannot believe that the Tories got that high level of seats in Parliament? But now no other parties can't really stop, or force Boris not to impose any other possible legislation? He has the power to control anything in Parliament.

This is what this country has chosen on 12th December.

Labour offered a way out for the many, he wanted to change this culture of elite few, but people just wanted Brexit done, so the voters voted now we have to pay that price for another 5 years.

I created one of the election video for Labour, and Jeremy Corbyn, I highlighted everything that's wrong with this country from benefits, NHS etc, but now we have to put up with the hate now.

Just found the source of this. I will look into finding out whether its true or not. Once i can determine the legality of it, i will post it here.

I better comment on my own thread.

i wrote to a few charities to ask if they heard of this or if it was going to happen. Those who replied back says that if it was a recent quote it would of been a massive issue point and posted everywhere

The tories have tried workfare and free labour several times and each time it has failed (current workforce program only 18% led to a paid job, and many employers pulled out of the last free labour one because of all the bad press - remember that Poundland case.

People voted in tories for 2 main reasons - to honor democracy and get brexit over and done with (many feared civil war as brexit campaigners thought to be more violent) and because they were more afraid of Corbyn in charge (I personally believe cortisol a good man and massively smeared by the tories but if given power people would be frightened he’d go to his most extreme - the ‘land for the many’ doc early this year was very scary reading for 97% of the country)

plus I think boris’s is more fragile then we think. The mood where I am was very somber - weird reaction for an area that gave a Tory mp a huge majority - food banks had popped up and loads were giving and talking to them. Someone even came up to me to apologise as they thought they almost ran me over earlier (they hadn’t and I’ve had more closer calls with the middle finger instead of apologies)

90% of voters had the nhs as a top 3 priority. Nhs staff, the police, firefighters, teachers, climate activists, the religious, the non caucasian, the poor and disabled have suffered under the tories and are still scared even if they voted Tory they did so with a heavy heart. I believe it would not take much for riots or a rebellion or a full blown civil war.

Boris needs to show the tories can change and quick or in 2024 the tories will be finished regardless. With his majority he got no excuses - he can get a good deal from the Eu, he doesn’t need to roll over for trump anymore (majority is a stronger position than impeachment) If he doesn’t it will be like scar and the hyenas at the end of the lion king.

any signs of the nhs being sold or going private and his position as pm and his power will be the least of his worries

people were affected by those nhs pictures, they are affected by the increased stories of poverty, they are effected by discrimination - there are increasing far right people here but there is disgust that Tommy Robinson was allowed to become a Tory member and Katie Hopkins has in the last 48 hours posted some of the most vile things I’ve seen on Twitter the past year - the tories are already making big mistakes 48 hours in and could be overthrown by the public if continued down this path.

it is vital that labour (and Lib Dem’s) move away from there current forms - labour don’t need a corbynista or a blairite - they need someone in the middle who will work for the well off and the poor - if they manage this within the next couple of years boris should be worried as this opposition could tear them to bits (people pushed worries to the side this election - I doubt they’ve forgiven or forgotten)

going back to treatment of the disabled - the tories have taken away so much from us already (cutting wrag money, cutting mobility car an severe disability amount, benefit freeze, the assessments and lying (which courts are going down hard on disabled), the discrimination

there is not much of a gap between where we are now and the tories going full nazi/Stalin and lining us all up to shoot

a lot depends on whether the public is effected by all the stories but our grieving and fear needed to turn into anger and we need to fight like never before

the tories are public servants, it’s up to everyone to remind them of this and not allow them to become dictators
