For those of us who have be diagnosed with ME and wondering if they had MS I have just looked at comparisons between the two on this website. www.hfme.org/mevsms.htm it is very interesting!

Hi Deb, I think you and I are on the same MS site, aren`t we?
There`s been a lot of discussion about this topic.

Hi again. I`ve had a look at the link you gave.
Yes, I was surprised to read the columns of similarities between MS and ME.
It was eye opening for me......lots of people will never read the similarities in symptoms nor the different way the 2 are generally perceived.
The writer talks about being envious of the lady who addressed her school years earlier. MS does get more attention and research funds than MS.
I blame this on the flippant name ME was given...was it in the 70s? Yuppy flu!
A very similar situation arises with HSP....this is a seriously disabling neurological condition, very similar to MS...but how many people have heard of it, or run a marathon for it, or even seen a collecting tin? They get next to no research funding.
I wished for MS as opposed to HSP when I was wrongly diagnosed with it!
There are numerous other neurological disabling conditions I have learnt about recently.
The general public will know nothing of them.
We`re all in this muddle together and should be empathetic to each other.
Best wishes

H i@Polly1052. I got it from the MS society website. I definatley think the yuppie flu thing made it sound as though ME was made up and not a real condition! There are still some doctors who think it is made up.0
