Hi. I am getting ESA in the support group. I was told by the Citizens advice bureau that I can't start an online business work from home unless I stop my ESA is that true? because I haven't started up the business and I haven't made any money and they told me I need to report taxes straight away?

Hi. Citizens advice bureau told me that I can't be claiming ESA and work from home business because it's illegal but I haven't started up the business yet and not made no money and I thought taxes have to be reported at the beginning of the tax year only. Is that true what they said because I get ESA in the support related group?

They posted this link to me https://www.gov.uk/topic/personal-tax/self-assessment

Hi,That link is regarding paying your tax when being self employed it has nothing to do with ESA and DWP.As you're claiming ESA then any work you do is permitted work and you'll need to get permission before starting work. Being self employed you will need to report your earnings to DWP as i advised on your other thread here https://community.scope.org.uk/discussion/67464/studying-it-and-want-to-work-from-home#latest
