I started my A level maths course in mid January but I’m finding it really hard and am not enjoying it. I will read a page of the learning materials but the information just won’t go into my head! I think online learning is a difficult way to study maths, I really need a teacher in the room with me.
With that in mind I should be allowed to transfer to another subject. I just need to decide which other subject to do instead. I know only I can decide this and sorry for making a thread about myself, haha, I just wanted to share my thoughts and maybe get some opinions
Considering at the moment:
Physics - I like this subject, especially space and the universe
Economics - I’m very interested in the stock market and money
English Language - I like writing and want to get better at it
Philosophy - a subject I really enjoy but maybe not very useful career-wise?
Hmmm, not sure! What do you think?
Thanks for reading.

Economics would be my choice, I was always hopeless at "real" maths but can do basic maths in my head, anther I personally would add to the list would be politics.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Hi woodbine, thanks for the post.
I do like politics but am not fond of the arguments that come with it. I prefer to keep my politics to myself and avoid conflict if that makes sense. I agree it is a very interesting subject though.

I did an English Language A Level as a 'mature' student (I was 21, so take that 'mature' tag with a pinch of salt!) and I loved it. That said, it was taught face-to-face by a fantastic teacher, so I'm not best placed to say how easily it would transfer to e-learning. How did you find English at school?Community Manager

I found English really fun at school, I just really hated the “speaking and listening” part where you had to make speeches or act in plays in front of the class! The good thing about distance learning is that there won’t be any of that in the course!
PS the comment about being 21 made me laugh, haha. -
Just an update: I went with economics in the end

Economics sounds like a really interesting topic to start @66Mustang! I hope it goes okay, it would be great to hear about it.

Thanks @Chloe_Scope I’m looking forward to getting started and will let you know how I get on

Good choice. And a really interesting one given the current political and economic climate. Good luck!Community Manager

I got my first assignment back. I got 39/50 or 78%. I looked online and that would be an A at A level, or 1.5% away from an A*!
I'm happy with that as I have not written an essay for about 5 years!! However there is room for improvement -
Nice one @66Mustang. What was your essay about in the end?Community Manager

Thanks @Adrian_Scope. It was about demand. The next one is about supply

Good luck with your Economics course, @66Mustang. It sounds as though you have got off to a great start - well done! Happy Economics learning!Winner of the Scope New Volunteer Award 2019.
