Problems at work

Hi I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and arthritis. I am having problems at work and had another disciplinary. I am appealing as I am part of a union. Need advice on how to get my manager to understand all the symptoms of FMS and how they cross over but all under same condition and shouldn't be discriminated against.

@helenbrownlee do you have an occupational health department? If so you should request an assessment with them and they should be able to assist.

Hi @helenbrownlee Welcome to the community

As suggested above referral to a OH is always a good start as they will do an assessment and make recommendations on reasonable adjustments you and your employer could consider , I suggest you speak to your manager or the HR department to see if this is possible

The other is that you could provide your employer with a fit note from your GP stating under what conditions you are fit for work and any duties you are not able to do.

Another option is to request reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act a possible adjustment could be that absences are dis regarded if for a reason due to your disability.
