Not so good to be honest, dealing with back, shoulder pain, IBS and now just for fun tooth pain! Seems like I’ve been in some sort of pain for years and I’m starting to loose the ability to deal.

    Hi All

Many thanks for the welcomes and advice.

I’m currently on Lanzoprizole (or however it’s spelt) for my IBS but thanks to the IBS I can’t tolerate any oral pain killers (or antibiotics).

As soon as she’s back working I’ll be seeing my physio again for back /shoulders and I’m scheduled to see a yoga /Pilates lower back specialist for some targeted exercises.

The tooth pain is apparently being caused by nerve flare ups triggered by the shoulder issues and the fact I only have one molar left on that side.
Managed a stroke of true genius even for me last night by falling asleep with a heat pad on my jaw..

I think what’s getting me down most is the constant lurching from one issue to another and the lack of sleep which makes the pain an stress so much harder to deal with.

Moaning and Bitching over for the mo,

Thanks for being there, Perhaps I should have gone for cheerful Tony instead of lucky ?

Hi @LuckyTony - welcome to this friendly & supportive community, & thank you for joining. You're in good company, as many of us suffer chronic pain....not much fun, & it can be a daily battle to combat it. Personally I find I can usually cope with it, but if I get something 'extra' on top, even a simple cold, or the allergy problems I often get, I can feel totally miserable.
On a positive note, Scope offers some advice about pain, including a link to the Physiotherapy Pain Association, which you may hopefully find helpful. Please see: https://ppa.csp.org.uk/content/links
As a (long) retired physio, I can wholly endorse this, & I see you're waiting to get physio again. Exercise does help, & is my mainstay. I also find any form of distraction can help, whether it be reading, watching a film, or pottering in the garden. There are so many things to look at to see what works for you, & often it's a combination of things that may work the best.
It's a bit of a vicious cycle, but if your pain isn't addressed this can affect your sleep, & any stress undoubtably increases your pain.
Lastly, I do hope it helps you being here, where there is much understanding about pain, altho the causes of this can be many, & varied.
A Pain Clinic is a also great idea, & may also be very helpful, as Steve mentions. I can also vouch for Orajel, which I've also used a long time ago; it's like a local anaesthetic agent, so may be possible for you. Ask your GP, or a pharmacist.
Anyway, please do chat here anytime. We all support each other here.  :)

    Hi @steve51

    Yes!!
I slept for 7 whole hours!  A record for the last few months ?.

Always surprises me the difference it makes. Still have all the various aches an pains but much less stressed after some sleep.

Thanks for checking in, how are you this morning?

    Hi @LuckyTony

    No probs it’s my Pleasure.

    That’s great my friend.

Yes I am the other end of the spectrum.

If I don’t have someone to wake me up then I end up sleeping all day.

    This drives me mad!!!

I do hope that you have a good day???

    Hi @steve51

wouldn’t it be great to be able to “Loan out” particular symptoms/issues?

We could swap my annoying tendency to wake up at 7am no matter how bad a nights sleep I’ve had for your sleeping all day?

A couple of times a week and we’d both get the benefit!

Medical science come on.. we’ve got a great idea here!

    Hi @LuckyTony

Yes that would be a good idea my friend.

I have got a long list of symptoms/issues.

If nobody wakes me up I would still be in bed ? now.

Not good for my meds as I have to take them in the morning/evening.

Hi @LuckyTony welcome to the community.
i suddenly had an increase in volume of tinnitus some six years ago, sounds like jet engines on take off in both ears. At first it drove me nuts especially at night when the house was quiet. People told me I’d get used to it and frankly I didn’t believe them but after about five years I did! Now my tinnitus actually blocks out extraneous noises so I sleep better. It’s like a super power gone wrong! But like the old Neil Sedaka song ‘waking up is hard to do.’ I find I over sleep quite often. Swings and roundabouts.

“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”
