By “screen” I mean anything with a screen like a laptop, desktop, tablet, TV, smartphone, games console, etc.
Feel free to break it down if you want
I use:
iPad - about 3-4 hours a day
Laptop - 1-2 hours a day
Desktop - about 1 hour a day
Phone - a few seconds/minutes here and there, maybe 15 minutes a day
Total - about 6 hours a day
What about you?
PS a little tip: when using a screen, look away from it about once every 15 minutes and focus on something else, preferably in the distance, for a few seconds. It’s better for your eyes!

Hi too much lol
My phone on and off all day about 3 hours would say
Laptop approx 2 hours
TV way too long about 8 hours
I do take lots breaks though -
Also too much here!
When I'm working, I'm on my laptop 7 hours a day.
Outside work, I look at my phone around 1.5 hours a day and watch the TV for a good 3 hours at night.
I'm learning to take more breaks to avoid back ache and also dry eye. Thanks for the tip @66Mustang - I'll remember that.

Hmm, I'd have to say 4 or 5 hours on a PC mixed between listening to music/radio and 6 or so hours with the TV on, though also mixed with PC gazing.
I try to have music/radio 'breaks' to mix up the day and give my eyes a rest. Or, read something that is not electrically charged! -
Way too much, especially since the 1st lockdown.
Now looking at roughly 13 hours total:
4 hours laptop
1 hour xbox
2 hours phone
6 hours tv
Back in March it would have been more like 10 hours total:
2 hours laptop
2 hours xbox (I find xbox is worse for both eyes and hands so have had to restrict it)
2 hours phone
4 hours TV
(If you want to know something really grim, I only use my phone while sat on the toilet... ) -
Something I’d be interested to know... maybe someone here knows the answer...
About a decade ago Apple pioneered the “Retina Display” which has pixels so small you can’t see each one, now things have moved forward and just about every display is like this.
Are these displays better for the eyes than the old pixelated displays? -
Laptop 3-4 hours depending on how my eyes are

Thank you everyone for sharing, it’s really interesting to see peoples different habits.

Just on this, I have a pair of amber tinted glasses that I wear when looking at screens. They help reduce glare and help my super light sensitive eyes
It means I can look at screens for longer than I could before I got them.Online Community CoordinatorConcerned about another member's safety or wellbeing? Flag your concerns with us.
