I am a carer to my husband born with CP.
He is currently being held captive (!) in hospital following a bout of Sepsis, and I am terrified!
I know he is in the best place but oh Lordy do I feel useless, I can’t visit currently as they have had positive COVID tests on his ward in the last 7 days. He is clear currently but at 64 with COPD CP and recent Sepsis I’m on edge the whole time.
I just wanted to say Hi, and I look forward to chatting with you and I promise I’m not normally quite so dramatic ?
cheers!

Hi and welcome glad you have joined
Sorry your husband is in hospital and you are not able to see him . Hope he gets home soon -
Hi @OnMyLastNerve - welcome to this great community. It must be a difficult time for you, especially not being able to visit. Does he phone you? Do you know if he'll get home for Christmas yet?You should come & join us in our virtual 'Coffee lounge' for some light-hearted chat as a bit of a distraction. There's a link to this at the top of this page. You are also most welcome to chat here at any time as there's usually someone about. Thank you for joining, & be sure to let us all know how you both get on.

Hello and welcome to the community @OnMyLastNerve It's nice to meet you!
I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sure that must be an extremely difficult situation for you both, so you're not being dramatic at all. How is he getting on?
I've moved your post into the CP category, but you might also like to visit our parents and carers category to find other carers who might be able to relate to your experience. -
Thank you ☺️
I hang on to the fact that he is a fighter, but I have had some very difficult conversations while he has been in there and getting more and more furious at the way people are making assumptions about him based on his CP which as you will all know is such a tiny part of who he is.... I feel very naive that I genuinely didn’t realise that people behave that way.He probably won’t be home for Xmas, but that’s ok we can do that another time, I just want to scoop him up and make him better .... he would hate that, he detests being fussed over ? -
I'm sorry that you've found people have been making assumptions @OnMyLastNerve. There certainly is a long way to go in changing people's attitudes towards disabled people.
Absolutely, you'll be able to celebrate properly once he's home and well. Fussing over someone who doesn't want to be fussed over is part of the fun
I'm sending my very best wishes to you both. Jump on here to vent or seek some advice and support any time you need to! -

Hi @OnMyLastNerve - thank you for sharing the good news that you'll get your husband back home shortly once his care needs are sorted. You're allowed to 'fuss' him just a little once he's home. Please do kindly keep us updated as to how you both get on, thank you. Take care of yourself too.
