Leg problems being ignored by Docs

Hi everyone so I've been having leg problems since April this year, and no one had taken me seriously because of that I developed a blood clot in the back of my knee which is being treated but now there's new pain in the same knee and my knee feels bloody awful it's like my bones are all sliding around no painkillers are helping and none of my doctor's seem to care

I personally feel like it's cartilage damage but I can't get an MRI till mid January and the pain I'm in is unbelievable bad I'd rather someone rip my leg off than deal with this... I can't even get around my house I can't get up or downstairs and can't put any weight on my leg or even lift it but everyone thinks I'm fine
I just wanna give up

Anyone with experience with cartilage issues in the knee, what did it feel like to you?

Thanks for reading All my rambling

Im sorry that my experience with cartilage problems was when I was very young, now sadly, I’m old, so can’t remember how it was. But I wanted to reach out to you and say that I’m so sorry that you are not getting anywhere with your drs. Unfortunately, as myself and my family are having the same problem with the dr not being interested. I have heard good and bad things about getting to see a dr, my only advice is to write to the practice manager and put your complaint in that way, and hopefully it will help you. I sincerely hope that you get some relief and help soon. Stay safe and take care.

@jinnty Thank you lovely I'm not one that likes to complain but it may have to come to that
I've cried myself to sleep for the past week cause I've been in so much pain but no one seems to care
And because I can't get up or downstairs I may not be able to spend Christmas downstairs with my family ? it's devastating

if the pain is that bad, that you can’t physically put any weight on it, then please call 111, and explain to them that you are unable to weight bare, and about your previous blood clot, and that you’re extremely worried about the fact of the pain and the loss of weight baring. Hope this helps. Best of luck and hope you get some help.

Hi @TylaGismo2.  I just wanted to say hello and say how sorry I am to hear off the pain your in, I think you definitely need to push for your doctor to take you more seriously and I hope they do. I suffer from severe osteoarthritis in both knees and my hands and feet, I’m currently waiting on 2 knee replacements and struggling with the pain daily. I take painkillers that only take the edge of my pain, I also put pain patches on both knees for 12 hrs a day, I hope you can get some help soon take care.

@jinnty I have called 111 multiple times this week and the most they said was take more painkillers they just don't want anything to do with me anymore ?

@Lou67 bless you sweet I can't imagine how painful that must be, I've just weaned myself off of tramadol and I don't wanna touch opiate painkillers anymore the withdrawals are just too intense
But nothing is helping my pain now and I'm really concerned that something's happening with my joint because of how much it's grinding and sliding it's agonising ?

Oh I’m so sorry your going through this, I also feel the grinding in my knees and feel asif they are going to lock altogether, you could try mentioning the pain patches although I know everyone is different and it would be upto your doctor the ones I get are called Ralvo 700mg medicated plaster. I hope this information will be helpful but as I sd it’s upto your doctor.

Only other thing I can think off is to present at A&E and see how that goes, good luck let’s know how it goes.

    Hi @TylaGismo2

I'm so sorry to hear about the pain you're going through and that the health professionals in your life are letting you down.

Have you tried requesting a new GP? A fresh pair of eyes and ears might be just what you need. Just a reminder, even though I'm sure you're already doing this, I always find it helps to stay calm when explaining your symptoms and give careful consideration to how you're describing them, this can help those you're talking to gain a better understanding. I'm not saying you don't do this, it's just what I try to do.

Hi I'm sorry to hear of your pain and lack of support from gp as others have said it may be worth a visit to a,&e not ideal I know but if you cant weight bear then you need to see someone or do you have a out of hours drop in centre

Please dont wish to have your leg ripped off as i am an amputee and know too well what this is like

Try going up and down stairs on your bottom using your hands for lifting weight

Wow thats incredible. Sorry you lost your leg :/

And it just shows how doctors are just shocking in the way they dismiss people. I won't go into details but it took me two years to get a scan on my back after my doctor telling me they wouldn't do it. And when I got the scan. Cancer.

So now even if it turns out to be nothing I make sure I get the issues looked at properly and not fobbed off.

Glad the cancer hasn't come back and wish you well for the future

Hey I'm doing better!! Adjusting to life with one leg has been odd but it's better than living with the pain that I used to be in ❤️

Honestly it was awful for me I had 5 doctors visits and 4 a&e visits and all anyone would tell me is "you just need to lose some weight"

So as weird as it is to say I was almost relieved when they said I had a broken femur and cancer, I literally said out loud "okay so I'm not crazy then"

    How're you doing?

I had something similar, being told about weight. It seems their default setting. Where nothing else exists, blame weight.

It was quite a shock for me when I found out but I do remember thinking in my head "I knew it!"

I'm ok thanks, 7 years cancer free so far fingers crossed. Well apart from some skin cancer I guess but other than that yeah all ok so far :)

Hi nice to see you posting back on here.
I’m so sorry you ended up loosing your leg, and had cancer.
Im so glad you’re cancer free now. But it’a shocking the amount of times you reached out to your doctors and at A&E to be dismissed each time.

    Take care ❤️
