    Hello @silversue2

    Welcome to the community :)

There certainly can be a lot of stress around the time of renewals and updating the DWP, in many cases that stress and anxiety can be caused by previous experiences, so you have my best wishes and support here. However it's also true that just because you may have had a poor experience last time around that doesn't mean the same thing will happen again, and I'm sure you'll be fine :)

We can't answer the questions for you, but we can advise the ways in which you might approach answering them, it's always best to ensure that you include anecdotal evidence to illustrate how your condition impacts your daily life and mobility.

If speaking through things would help you, you can always give Scope's helpline a call, and you could also take a look at Advice Local to see what support might be available in your area.

My advice us to treat it as a new claim dont just put mo change still explain how your condition affects you and the impact of trying to do a task

    Good luck keep us updated

Hello @silversue2. When is your form due back? It can help to break it down and do it bit by bit, rather than completing it in an evening. To give the level of detail needed it can take some time to put it all down.
What you've written above, with the anecdotal story about your recent fall and the log burner is a good start. Could you add more detail to that when filling in your form? What happened afterwards? What help did you need? What help could have stopped it from happening?

The link shared above should help with some of the form and I've quoted a particularly useful portion below for ease:
4 - For every activity you think you score points you need to think of 2 or 3 recent examples of incidents when you tried to do that activity. Describe in detail the what, when, where, who witnessed, what happened next etc. Don’t skimp on detail. It’s often better to type it up in Word first rather than write in the form. If it won’t fit then add extra sheets, remembering to put your name, NINO and the question to which the answer relates on each sheet. Alternatively, reduce the font and cut and paste the Word answer into the form. Note that doing point 4 correctly is far more important than supporting medical evidence in most cases.
Unfortunately we're not in a position to suggest which rate you should be aiming for, but if you have a look through the PIP descriptors you should be able to work out an idea of which you meet and the points attached to these.
If there's any you're unsure of we'd be more than happy to discuss them with you hear and see if we can help.
Ah, the new line. The forum can’t help you but our helpline can. Good to know.

I feel a mystery shopper exercise coming on. Wonder if this is like the RNIB help line that told me three times I could not be registered as sight-impaired as the provision I was referring to didn’t exist? I am registered sight-impaired using the exact provision they still say doesn’t exist.
I'm not sure that's what @Ross_Scope said at all. He explained we can't answer the questions for her but that if she'd find it beneficial to talk it through with someone, she could try our helpline.
I'm sorry it sounds like you have a bad experience with RNIB. I haven't used them personally, although I know some people find them incredibly helpful. I imagine like with every service, quality of advice can vary depending on who you speak to. I've certainly had my fair share of poor advice given from 'specialists' in the past.

    Hi @silversue2

You didn't mention in your post how long ago the fall into the log burner was, but was it recently? Did you attend A&E or seek medical advice following the incident? It must have been very painful.

I imagine you have become very worried about your mobility when you are aware that things such as that have happened in the past, which is completely understandable.

Do you have any sort of care in place to help you with daily tasks?

I appreciate that the falls happen often, and I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you don't pick up any injuries from them however please ensure you speak to a health professional if you ever do.

I'm glad you have your husband as support. If you have no care in place currently, you might wish to contact your local authority's social care team to refer yourself for a needs assessment, they may be able to help you.

@silversue2 How are you doing?  Did you make a start on filling in the PIP form? And, have you had any further falls?  I hope not, but do heed Ross' words and seek medical attention if you do.

Also, I'd recommend giving some thought to having a free social care needs assessment.  Having this done will allow you to access any aids and adaptations that will improve your quality of life such as walking frames or changes to your home.  To apply for an assessment, visit the government's 'Apply for a needs assessment by social services' webpage.

    Take care and speak soon.
