Women's safety

I feel really sad saying this, but i dont see any way of making women feel safer. Violence is a horrible part of life these days. And by the way things are going, with kids carrying knives, will probably be guns soon, it's only going to get worse. The whole world seems to be getting more violent, look at governments and military coups. The way i see it, it has to start with governments and leaders, i know my government is making me really frustrated, and im not so bad off, the more they badly treat people, the more frustration, then violence. Everyone is a potential victim. I feel for women, but the bigger picture has to start with protecting our kids, happy kids grow up to be happy adults, in theory.
I was brought up in a family of 7 women, respect is natural to me.

Deleted as I read your post a bit wrong and was arguing against something you didn’t write
But I do agree with some of what you say -
I posted on another thread on here yesterday that the number of murders in the UK had fallen in 2019 from 750(2018) to 675.
I would have to disagree, this country isn't a violent place, much of the concern in recent days I suspect is because a serving policeman (allegedly) murdered someone, an unusual event to which we must be careful not to react with knee jerk reactions.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
I agree, this country is one of the safest in the world, the point i was trying to make, violent crimes are being committed more now by younger people. I have been thinking about when I was young, we had youth clubs. I've got 2 teenage sons, ive been lucky they've never been bothered about going out. My youngest is a computer geek, my oldest was robbed and left in a pool of blood when he was 14, he now suffers ptsd. Kids have nothing to do but walk the streets, this is a government creation. They can waste billions on ferry contracts, with no ferries!!!! Kids are our future, they should be any governments priority with funding.

To be fair in a city or anything like that I wouldn't be out on my own day or night the last 12 months there has been more knife crime and rape domestic abuse but is it that we know more about it happening because its lockdown because all these type of crimes have always happend

Where children are concerned being brought up happy and secure not every young person that commits crime came from a bad unhappy background
Some young prople committing crimes come from a good back ground and have had a good life crime is about havring power and that no one tells them how to behave like to make people feel weak and vulnerable some re offend some don't

When my son was about 15 he was stabbed in the head with a stanley knife and the tip is still in his skull some 25 years later. Had he not put his hand up in front of him his throat would have been slashed as well. It was a case of mistaken identity over a girl, the boy was also 15 and it turned out I'd known his dad for 30 years, a lovely family who were horrified what their son had done. We live in a small town where you wouldn't think twice about walking home alone in the dark, It doesn't matter where you are in the country, small town, big city if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time it can happen to anyone.

@vikingqueen very true I was brought up with when your time on this earth up its up

I would add that I suspect before covid one of the problems with young men (teens) has been that schools are too hasty to suspend/expel trouble makers/under achievers, and they end up on the streets. It's a problem that needs to be addressed as we move forward.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

It's a vicious circle but something has to break it
-
The trouble starts with the youth of today have nothing to do. Tory cuts closed the youth clubs and the likes, it all boils down to money and the powers that be don't want to spend it on the important things.
-
It's still not an excuse to turn to violence

Had to laugh earlier the police at clapham common waited till the sun had gone down before they started to arrest those having a vigil, you really could not make it up.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

@woodbine oh god lol the world has gone mad

There's no respect any more is the problem, anyone is subject to an attack if in wrong place or wrong people around, a guy in next village by me got attacked by teenagers just for being there. Another man a few months months ago got attacked by a group, he was walking, they even rode mopeds over him. Again I think it's courts that need to step up, tougher sentences.
-
the main problem is there are too many snowflakes and lefties that take advantage of anything that happens to push there cause yes what happened was shocking but its very rare in the uk all you here about is equal rights for women till the usual crack pots pop up wanting rules for one sex only
-
Im not talking about rules or causes, its about opinions on safety, especially for our kids. Any possible solutions are always welcome.

Covid only kills mostly over 80s or people with multiple health issues. Who should be staying at home and avoiding busy places
Far too many leftie socialist -
@scottishdanny
Regardless who Covid kills it is a fact that many medical procedures have been suspended and certain services have been unavailable. Perhaps rather than trying to insult members here who you disagree with, you should get a grip on what is actually happening?
Similarly it has not been the over 80s and those with multiple health issues that have been consistently flouting the rules, they are just the ones paying the ultimate price for this behaviour by others.
If stating the truth means I am a snowflake and leftie socialist I will proudly wear those labels. As an individual I stood alone.
As a member of a group I did things.
As part of a community I helped to create change!
