Hi there
Good friday is a bank holiday so it depends on a persons contract and if they are expected to work bank holidays
-
I never missed a BH in retail me, always volunteered for a 12 hour shift to take advantage of the extra pay.
-
I was always had to work bank holidays lol and Xmas day and boxing day and new year lol first Xmas I didnt have to work I was on lock down lol
-
When my daughter worked for a major high st. fashion retailer the only day they got off was xmas day, but they did get 28 days annual holiday to compensate. But right now non essential retailers are still closed so it's a problem.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

I found that if you work in the private sector then you generally worked bank holidays
But not so much in public sector or non profit making sector
Obviously there are exceptions to this
Bank holidays are literally becoming holidays for banks -
@janer1967 how true that is and what a shame, my days in retail were 40 years ago now, but I remember we fought tooth and nail for bank holidays.
There is one thing about Easter and that is that all stores even food retailers over 3,000 sq.feet have to close on Easter Sunday.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
