    I had 22 items of feedback today and I have queried 20 of them! I was furious the other day, my work don't yet know I am Autistic, but I have been complaining for week that the instructions on the new queues make no sense. I was told "read between the lines".

    I'm sorry to hear that @Rechnin, as that's not a good thing for an employer to say to anyone really! Instructions should usually be as clear and precise as possible. 

    Do you have a plan for telling your employer about your recent diagnosis?

    Yes, they should be and I have fed this back but get the same excuses all the time.

    Thankfully, the people who did my assessment are writing on something to give to my employers, then we will see iof anything changes. But, I am not too hopeful as they have already mentioned Fit For Work.

    So, work have acknowledged my report and I have a meeting tomorrow with OHC tomorrow.

    I am so sorry to hear that you are going through these struggles with work especially I am too I can relate to the way you are feeling  right now.

    Sorry to hear that as well, its not a great thing to have to go through.

    They have had my Autism Assessment now and have only implemented what should have already been in place. There has been little or no reaction to my assessment.

    I have had a couple of meetings since then, I managed to get some of the items that should have already been in place back up and running, and I had another meeting with OHC.

    Sadly, it looks like we are going down the line of "Unfit for Work."

    Lousy... I have been move on to a new queue where the instructions are not clear an there ae several different ways o do the same element within the item. But to them this is repetitive, I have also been told I will need to pick up more queues in future. I was also told the advisory report given to them is only a 'suggestion' and they have no legal requirement to follow it. 

    On top of this I have my Not Fit For Work assessment next week.

    So, work is better but still not great. Doing ok on job but they keep going on about more work. 

    However, I have been offered another role.

    I am so very tempted, but, with it been agency and not direct recruitment I am a bit hesitant, but, its the third call I have had this week, so, I have options.

    The assessment went, interestingly, thought they decided my current role was unsuitable. However, since I have spoken to my support worker they did something that they shouldn't have. In the meeting today they asked me if I wanted to succeed in this role, and, of course, i said yes. But i had concerns about that possibility as to the issues I have brought up before with inaccurate instructions, not fixed pattern of work and constantly hinting that I had to take on more roles.

    Apparently, they should not have done that.

    So, sadly, I am now in the process of making a formal complaint, so, any advice would be amazing.

    Hi @Rechnin

    Thank you for coming back to give us an update.  I'm sorry it isn't more positive news.

    Could you give us a few more details?  For instance, have you tried making an informal complaint to your line manager first? What are the specific issues you want to pick up in your formal complaint?

    ACAS have this webpage on understanding the Formal Grievance procedure that will give you some insight into what to expect if you follow that path.  While this Citizens Advice webpage outlines what help you can get when dealing with a problem at work i.e. from solicitors, advocates, etc.

    Whereabouts have you been looking for jobs and how's that going?

    The complaint needs to be put in as I have made 40+ errors in about six months and I have been told this is unacceptable. I am on a 98% accuracy target which means more than one error in a week means I have failed. I have brought up that the instructions are unclear, the marking has been done by three different people in three different ways and with no consistancy between the marking.

    I been given Read/Write and Dragon and Mindmapping software, a reduction in my target numbers and counciling. They failed to put this in place the first time around (it took almost two years for the counciling but took credit for it) and only six weeks in to my current role.

    In the last 6 weeks I have started providing feedback totalling 250+ items returned for unclear instructions, in one week I fed back more than 40 items. I broached this issues and was told "We cant just change everything for you." and in terms of the instructions "I need to read between the lines."

    I then had an OHC review where they advised I should be given a 'suitable' queue and be left to concentrate on that queue only to be told "Its only an advisory, we dont have to do any of it."

    I also had a charity called Spectrum E who were willing to negocitae on my behalf, they emailed 5 times with not reply, I asked my TL if she had an contact from them and she denied it but then said doewn the line "I didn't know who they were at the time." so just ignore them.

    As a result of all this, I have been called in to several meetings regarding my performance and wether I can continue on this queue, most of the information was leading and I was asked to give only yes or no answers. This has been refered back and may go to Not Fit For Work and I am STILL awaiting a response. Further, when these have been held my TL has had a senior manager in them and I have had BOTH of them covering themselves and backing each other up.

    On top of all this, this is the SECOND time all this has happened in three years, all of the above had been previous used against me when the same was done in my previous role.

    Its obviously time I need to find somewhere else, but, I don't see why I should have to move on due to what is rank incompitence.

    Hello @Rechnin and apologies for not getting back to you sooner.  Thanks for providing those details and blimey, it sounds like you've had a challenging time to say the least.  I'm sorry the support received has been lacking  :(  How are you doing emotionally with this?

    Scope have a 'Discrimination at work' webpage which outlines the steps you should follow where you believe discrimination is happening.  It's brilliant that you have garnered the involvement of Spectrum E, but failing any progress with your employers, you might want to consider the advice given under the webpage's 'What you can do if you face discrimination' heading.  Starting with an informal chat, and where appropriate, escalating the issue to raising a grievance.

    Also, please do get free, specialist advice from the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) so you are in the best position going forwards.
