    Hi @Lemony
It's really good to virtually meet you. Lots of love and support is always important and wanting to learn more shows that you are already doing great! Receiving a diagnosis can bring up a mix of emotions and it is very important for you to remember that there is no set way that you should feel.
Your daughter should be under the care of a paediatrician and should be given access to regular physiotherapy this will help with her mobility and coordination. We have lots of information about Cerebral Palsy and services such as Navigate and Parents Connect for families that have received a recent diagnosis.
I live with CP too and I'd be more than happy to talk to you over email about your thoughts and concerns. Please remember that you are not alone in your journey.

    Hello @Lemony

Welcome to the community, good to see you join us and it's great that you are seeking advice to help you with your son. It can often be a worrying time when you receive a diagnosis about your child but getting the diagnosis is a positive step in that it enables you to receive further support.

How is your son coping at the minute?

Thanks so much for your replies!

Please could I have your email address, Richard?

At the moment, I'm just trying to find out everything I can about CP and wondered if there are any experiences here that I should read about or blogs or things parents of children with CP should know?

I think the other thing to bear in mind is that CP is not just one thing: there are a few different types, depending on which bits of the brain have been affected, and the different type of CP do bring with them different (possible) issues. And of course people are affected by CP right from virtually no impairment to being quite complexly (is that a word?!) disabled.  I think the Scope info does describe the broadly different types.

    Hi @Lemony
How are you? Welcome to the community and thank you for joining us. By wanting to find out as much information as possible already shows what a brilliant Mum you are being though love, support and understanding are also key elements in supporting a child with CP as they are with any child. The important thing to remember about CP is that it affects no two people in exactly the same way. Scope has some fantastic advice and our brilliant CP Specialist Officer @Richard_Scope can support. I have CP and would be happy to try to answer any questions you may have. We are a friendly and supportive community. Best wishes, thanks

Thank you so much for your lovely reply! I've just spoken to a lady at Scope about a 6 week course I can go on with my husband, which seems ideal, so I'm really grateful for that.

It's so good to know I have people like you as a contact for when questions crop up as I know they will do!
