Esa mixed age couple help needed please

Hi all I’m new to this forum looking for some help I haven’t a clue what to do.
partner is turning 66 in feb 2022 I’m 51 in jan 
had a letter inviting him to claim his pension.which I thought would just be straight forward.
well don’t think it is.this is our situation.
partner on esa c/b in support group for many years 
he gets enhanced pip for both 
partner has small private pension £320 a month 
I get carers 
tax credits we have a 15 year old son 
I work 14 hours aweek minimum wage 
we get council tax reduction 
we have a morgage on our house.
could anyone tell me what’s going to happen when my partner turn 66 and will 
be of state pension age.

    ESA is a working age benefit and will stop.
    He will get State Pension instead.
    His PIP will continue.
    Your CA will continue.
    Tax Credits can continue (but may change due to the change in taxable income).
    Council Tax Reduction will have to be recalculated (and may be temporarily suspended while this is done).

    I thought I would have to claim u/c because I’m under state pension age

    No, because you don't need to claim for help with any rent. You can remian on tax credits.  Living in Wales makes no difference.
    I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.

    The ESA should stop automatically when he reaches pension age regardless of whether or not he claims the State Pension.
    The State Pension needs to be claimed.
    You should inform Tax Credits and Council Tax Reduction about the change from ESA to SP when it occurs.

    Just to add. Although the ESA should stop it sometimes happens that it doesn’t. If the ESA doesn’t stop he should contact them and tell them because he will have been overpaid.
