I had a tickly cough all day yesterday which got worst, so I did a covid test which came back negative. I went bed early to try sleep it off but had a fever in the night and couldn't get warm even though I was too hot and sweating. This morning I have woken up feeling really rough, still have a bad cough and feels like a bad head cold.
I was meant to go out with my nan today to sort out my grandads money at the bank, however I feel too ill so had to cancel as don't want to pass on my cold to my nan. I'm just sat here with my quilt round me today. I hope it clears up soon.

Sorry your not feeling well and hope your better soon lots of hot lemon and chill doing nothing

Sorry to hear that you're feeling under the weather @rubin16 - I had a cold a few weeks ago and it did clear up after a few days, so hopefully it's the same for you. I found that lots of sleep, rest, warm foods/drink and honey helped.
It sounds like that was the right decision to not go to the bank, and I'm sure there will be plenty of other times that you can go with your nan
Make sure you rest up and look after yourself.

Thanks for your messages,I have taken some paracetamol and seem to be feeling abit better as the day is going, I was worried at first that I might have covid, however I don't go anywhere to catch it and did a test which was negative. I just have a bad head cold. I have stopped coughing now which is a relief I just keep sneezing now and I'm wrapped up with my quilt around me feeling sorry for myself on my computer.Hopefully its gone by tomorrow as I have an appointment with a Autistic charity that want to help me do activities and try make friends which I'm very nervous for, but have to go out my comfort zone if i'm ever going to gain some independence.I have Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Gilberts Syndrome and Crohn's Disease and have knowledge in these areas.

I'm glad you did a test and I hope you gained a lot of reassurance from it . I'm glad the coughing has stopped, I know when I had my cold, I was up all night coughing as it was so tickly and frustrating! Hopefully you will overcome the cold pretty soon and it won't hang around for too long. It's great that you're resting, as you will be letting your body recover
What a great attitude @rubin16 and that's really exciting that you've made an appointment these things always seem initially nerve-racking, but when you're there, I'm sure you will enjoy it and will want to go back. Please keep us updated on how it goes!

I just got back from the appointment and it went really well, glad I went. They just showed me round the building and had a chat about what I like doing and what i'm looking to get out of them. They said to give them a try next thursday as theres a gaming group each thursday, so going to go again next week and hopefully start to socialise and make new friends, it also gets me out for a few hours a week which normally I'm too scared to do. I'm going to give it a try as I want to have friends and be able to socialise more and pick up some social skills which at the moment i'm lacking.

Our next door neighbour had a cold at the start of the week then it became a constant cough, although she feels otherwise ok she did a PCR test yesterday and is waiting for the result now.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Hi @rubin16. I'm glad to read you're feeling a bit better.
If you haven't already done so, it may be worth you ordering a PCR test. The LFT are meant to be used when non-symptomatic as they aren't as reliable. Sadly testing negative on a LFT isn't a guarantee you don't have Covid-19 and the guidance is that if you have symptoms such as your cough and fever, you are supposed to isolate until you've taken a PCR test to confirm.
Hopefully it is just a cold, there is a lot of it about at the moment, but you can never be too certain!Community Manager

I never knew that to be honest, but just to be sure I've just ordered a PCR test from the gov website, I think its just a bad cold that I have as I am starting to feel better, but just to be sure I will now self isolate until I have the all clear from the PCR test.I don't go anywhere to catch covid to be honest, as I hardly leave my room apart from going to my nans so i'm certain I don't have covid, but just to be sure and to advoid passing it on to family and anyone else I will now wait for the results of the PCR test. Thanks for the advice, I never knew that the tests at home wern't accurate and hopefully I don't have covid and its just a case of having a bad cold which I think it is.I have Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Gilberts Syndrome and Crohn's Disease and have knowledge in these areas.

Hi @rubin16 I'm glad we could help, fingers crossed for a negative PCR, and well done for getting it sorted so quickly.
Also, I'm really pleased to hear you're keen on joining the gaming group, it's a great way of connecting people from all sorts of backgrounds, and it's good fun at the end of the day!

I'm very annoyed this morning, I recieved my PCR test and completed it this morning it said to post it back using a priority post box and to search the royal mail website for one near me. So I did and found one 0.5 miles away so I plucked up the courage to go out in the pouring rain to get to the post box before 12pm pickup. It was abit of a walk and I got quite wet but got to where they said the post box was and, no post box. I searched everywhere and there wasn't one anywhere. I gave up and posted it in a normal post box on the way back home.I sent a complaint via email to royal mail this morning to update their website to stop sending people to post boxes that don't exist, now I'm soaked and cold for no reason, and posting it in a normal post box means they won't get the test till tuesday so have to wait longer.Sorry to rant just needed to get it off my chest, in other news I feel good again although now self isolating till I get the results of the test back.I have Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Gilberts Syndrome and Crohn's Disease and have knowledge in these areas.

That sounds inconvenient @rubin16, having been out in the rain myself this morning I can empathise with your struggle. Hopefully they can respond to your complaint the clarify the situation.
Best of luck for the outcome of the test, and it's positive to hear that you feel better again now.

Just to update, I got the result from my PCR test just now:Negative result, I knew I couldn't have the virus as I don't go anywhere or hardly leave my room. But I feel at ease now and don't need to fully isolate anymore so I can goto that gaming group on Thursday. Thanks everyone for their messages and support I'm feeling my normal self again now.
