    Hi,
I would say no because they are only on a waiting list. I would expect them to need a review of their EHCP when they move schools.
When my daughter moved to a specialist college she needed a review.

I can only tell you my experiences with my daughter. When she changed colleges her review was earlier than the planned yearly one but when she moved it was the start of the new September term and her college wasn't named on her EHCP, which was why the review was needed.
Yes, it is possible that the needs of your child may not be met when they change schools. I wish my daughter hadn't moved colleges because her needs certainly weren't met and then Covid hit us. She's now left full time education.

She's almost 21 and decided that she no longer wanted to continue with education. During most of the pandemic up until she left there was very little college time. I think she got to the stage where she was fed up in general and her anxiety was through the roof at the time.
Unfortunately, her health condition means she's unable to work but she does claim benefits, which do help a little.
Good luck with the new school if your child gets a place and i hope there's support in place for them when they do start.

    Hi @MrsMwa

    Thanks for your question.

In an EHCP, you only name a school if it is the school that you believe will best fit their needs.

This is typically so your preferred school can be considered if it is outside of your geographical parameters.

You can find more information at https://www.ipsea.org.uk/choosing-a-schoolcollege-with-an-ehc-plan

    I hope this helps! <3

    Hi @MrsMwa

I'm always more than happy to help if I can. I'm really pleased to hear SENDIASS has been supportive.

If you need any more guidance, Scope has an article about choosing a new school when your child has an EHCP. You can find it at https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/named-school-ehc-plan-ehcp/

I hope this is helpful but if you have any more questions, need anything to be clarified, or need any further support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again soon  :)
