Good morning
I wonder if anyone on these forums could provide some information and support please. I have a 10 months old baby who has lymphatic malformation and he has been in and out of hospital since he was born. I am looking to apply for DLA. I wonder if anybody here has successfully obtained this and could give some advice re filling out the form.

Hi and welcome,It is very difficult to get DLA for a child a baby as young as thing. The reason is because all babies require a lot of care and attention. What you will need to show is that your baby needs more care and attention than that of a baby the same age that doesn't have a health condition.

hi Poppy
i will check out the link that you sent. Our sons condition does mean a lot of additional caring ( I know this from having 3 older children, one has autism) and we can evidence this with his medical history. From my understanding it is something they do not grow out of, having spoken to other parents and people who have this condition.Just wondered if anyone in this community has managed to receive DLA for this condition. I do appreciate this comes under the rare diseases category so it may not be as well known. Thanks,

That would be impossible to answer because it's not awarded based on any diagnosis. If you do decide to claim then you should add a couple of real world examples per activity that applies.

Hey 👋
thank you for your message. Yes that would be very helpful. What’s the best way of contacting/reaching you privately ?
-
I’m trying to work out how to do it, let me check.
-
You can’t send a PM to anyone until you have reached 25 points. As you both haven’t reached that yet you won’t be able to contact each other privately. As personal information such as email addresses are not allowed on the community you will need to wait until you reach those points.

Hi poppy, thank you for that information.Telokin- Ill
hopefully be able to inbox you soon privately. -
