    If you feel strongly write to your MP. 

    End of the day, the rebate is there, if people don’t engage well what more can they do?

    Well it seems that the government have come to the same opinion as I have.
    Most if not all of the very recent financial packages announced today will be sent to everyone that fits the criteria without the claimant having to engage. Thank goodness for some real sense.

    Which is absolutely fine. 

    What you failed to grasp was that the £150 was administered the way the government asked and that was that. It couldn’t be changed. Therefore people had no choice to engage.

    Indeed the Government aren't responsible for administering the £150 council tax/fuel rebate.

    Yes it was and with no thought being given to those that (a) had no reason to put in a direct debit due to there being no council tax liability and (b) many including myself have difficulty in submitting a claim. Short sightedness in my opinion by the government. But still I'm pleased that the rest of the money is going to be automatic without any action by the claimant based entirely on benefits already in payment and age. The potential loss of £150 is small in comparison with what we are to get.

    Yeah it’s great when it works out like that for people and that way they get the support they need.

    That's what I read. It was stated that it was at least £1300

    So pleased that the government has seen some sense instead of making people having to claim it.
