My partner is on PIP and has just got her letter about a 6 days ago saying 'your appeal has been lodged with the court'... Anyway, I am her carer and I received a payment yesterday day for £1,250... She didn't receive any payments. When we go to track the appeal it still says its in the very first stage, just that we have appealed and waiting for DWP's response.

What is this payment all about? Haven't received any letters about a payment or anything. It is definitely for me(carer), because the reference on the payment has my national insurance number followed by 'CA', carers allowance.

Why would I receive this carers payment if our appeal hasn't gone through yet?

Thank you

If your partner is receiving some PIP already that award continues while the appeal is underway (assuming that the appeal is about the amount of PIP rather than a PIP refusal). If the Daily Living part of PIP is in payment then you are entitled to CA.

No, she was on PIP but it got totally stopped in a random review. She was on PIP years and never failed assessment. This assessment she is the same as all the other times she had an assessment but even worse symptoms now and she got 0 for everything. Done MR, no change, so got together with CAB and wrote appeal stuff out and sent for tribunal, then I received a payment out of the blue for £1,250 for Carers Allowance, yet we are getting letters saying appeal has been lodged and when I go to track the progress it's still at the very beginning. I am worried it could be a mistaken payment but it seems too much of a coincidence so I'm unsure.

In that case it is a puzzle. In your situation I would definitely contact CA and ask them about it because it may be an error.
Even if DWP had decided to grant PIP award they should have spoken and discussed with you or your representative first (there would be a lag before the appeal showed as lapsed) and CA would not respond so swiftly anyway.
