I’m new here. Applied for pip for first time.

first call was on the 11th of July.

Received the form by email on the 28th of September. The delay for receiving the form was due to identity check.

I emailed my form same day, 28th of September.

received a text the following day from IAS:

Hello from Independent Assessment Services. We conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This is for information purposes only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to have a consultation with you. You can find information about the service we provide at https://mypipassessment.co.uk. You do not need to contact us.

Had my telephone assessment yesterday (28th, lasted around 40-45 minutes.

One hour later, received text from DWP:

We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you.

Now just waiting!

thank you for reading, and for letting me join this amazing Group 😊

That 8 weeks could be more like 12 owing to the delays at the moment. Fingers crossed and do keep us updated when you get your decision.

Just so you're aware the decision timescale is 2-12 weeks, rather than within 8 weeks.

    Good morning everyone,

I received my pip report from DWP, and the assessor didn’t right correctly what I’ve said. I don’t have decision as yet. She scored me 7 on DL, for the mobility, first question 0, second one she gave 12. Will I get anything?

    thsnk you

Morning @Hitch3250 thanks for the update!

The report is a recommendation only for the decision maker, who will be looking at the form/any other evidence you've submitted as well, to help make their decision.

What the report says won't necessarily be the points you're awarded, so you'll need to wait for your decision letter to be certain.

Scope has a section on the website about understanding your PIP report, which I hope will help. The main thing to remember is that:

Each component has a standard or enhanced level. There are 12 activities, 10 for daily living and 2 for mobility. For each component, you need:

    • 8 to 11 points for the standard rate

    • 12 points or more for the enhanced rate

If there's anything that's not clear, please ask, and I hope you'll get the outcome you're after. Well done for getting through the assessment :)

If the Decision Maker follows the report you would get no Daily Living but enhanced Mobility.

It isn’t the assessors job to say what you say, you opportunity to say exactly what you want is when you fill out the PIP2.

If there has been a misunderstanding you can deal with this by contacting DWP now or when later requesting an MR if you choose to do so.

    Hi @calcotti

thank you for your reply and support. Do you think it’s worth to call DWP on Monday and talk to CM about my concerns!

    thank you

A lot of people assume the assessment process is there for them to write what you say verbatim, it's not. If it was then there would be no point in having the assessment. It's for them to gather more evidence to support your claim. The assessment report is their opinion based on every you said in the form, any additional evidence and what you said during the assessment.

You can but it's very unlikely they will be able to put you through to a decision maker. When you ring PIP you are speaking to someone from call centre. You can ask them to ask a decision maker to ring you back.
