@durhamjaide2001 you can set up delivery pass which you pay each month and get as many deliveries as you like for fixed price works out a lot cheaper
I have seen that but I don't get deliveries that much

Maybe not as relevant for you then @durhamjaide2001. At least not compared to someone who regularly has lots of deliveries  :)

I’m not using the heating at all, had it on once for an hour and it cost £2! That’s a lot of money to have it on all day so no, I’m wearing many clothes and using a hot water bottle when it becomes unbearable.

Its a shame because I usually really like the winter but not without heating. ☹️

@66Mustang our kettle costs 3p for a teapot full, same  as one slice of toast, both according to our smart meter.

What type of heating do you have?  I've got a massive 2kW electric convector in the main room (studio flat) and was surprised that it only costs about 20p for an hour as it cuts in & out on the thermostat.  The longer it's on for, the less it costs per minute as it's only 'topping up' the heat after the initial first burst of heat.  I've been having it on for an hour in the evenings (8pm, cheap rate) but it heats up the air so well that I have to switch it off after about an hour and that warmth gently cools until I go to bed.  The downside is that it only heats the air, so there's no residual heat in the building through the night.

If you could get a small plug in convector or oil filled radiator just near your chair that should work out much cheaper than running central heating for the whole house but still keep you fairly comfortable in the main room.

I still have my heating on, but not as much. I have a hot bath to warm up and then layer up. I think my house keeping heat in better then my previous one helps a lot. My main issue with heating, as with every winter, is keeping my feet warm, as they don’t get warm unless I heat them up myself. This year is more difficult, as I would have the heating on more then I have done so far this year. I have tried all sorts like electric blankets, but they don’t get warm enough to heat my feet fully, so as soon as I turn the blanket off, they are cold again within an hour.

Good ideas @OverlyAnxious, I have gas central heating and a very cold house, cool in summer but also cold in the winter.

I haven`t made any changes....... yet.
I`m fortunate in that I prefer a cool house over a warm one, so I`ve hardly used my gas heating on this year (I turn it off 1st May and back on 1st October - these dates may vary on cold / warm weather). I`ve had my gas heating on for 1.5 hours since 1st October.  I have solar panels and an induction hob - so I work my laundry / cooking around solar.  Some days I`m in "debit" (have to use the national grid) and others I`m in "credit" (using solar generated).  If that makes sense.
Every 3 months I get monies from the Feed In Tariff (solar tariff), so that helps towards bills.
However, I may have to start cutting back when the caps are raised again next year.

Apologies @jakkerson but we do not allow links to sales to be posted. I'm glad you've managed to quit smoking though, that's great!
