Benefits that you can claim when on pip

Hi can I pick your brains, both myself and my husband get pip, I work minimal hours due to my health and so does my husband. My question is does being on pip make you eligible for other benefits? Council tax reduction, UC etc, even though we work.

    Based on my experience I think you are entitled to;
    Universal Credit 
    I was told by a dental nurse that you could get DLA as well as PIP but I don't think you can anymore.
    Student loans if you are at university 
    Careers allowance  if you are caring for someone. 
    Child benefits if you have children.

    There's not been enough of information for anyone to give that advice. You really do need to be careful what you advise here.

    That has never been correct at all.

    I'd advise you to use a benefits caluclator to check entitlement to UC. Claiming PIP doesn't automatically entitle you to any benefits.
    As UC is a means tested benefit then you will need to claim with your partner and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded form claiming.
    For council tax reduction this needs to be claimed from your local Authority but whether there's any entitlement will again depend on your joint circumstances.
    Carers allowance can only be claimed if they are earning less than £132/week after deductions and their PIP includes the daily living part.

    Not sure that going to a dental nurse for benefits advice is sensible.

    It has never been possible to get both DLA and PIP. For new claims DLA is payable to children and PIP to working age adults. Adults used to be able to claim DLA but PIP replaced it.

    OP may be eligible for UC but that doesn't mean that they are entitled. They are not eligible if they have capital over £16.000.

    OP, as suggested by poppy, you can try a benefits calculator. If you have trouble with that we would need a lot more information about your circumstances in order to be able to advise.
