Hello all just after a bit of advice as to who I notify to tell them my partner is moving in. Also he is on UC does he upload it on his journal under change of circumstances. I’m not on UC I’m on ESA. Child tax credit and child benefit and PiP.
Thankyou all

Your partner needs to report a change of circumstances and tell them you are now living with them. They will then be sent a linking code.
You will need to make a claim for UC and use the linking code to join both claims together.Any income related ESA will continue for 2 weeks and then stop. If any part of it is contributions based this will continue. (£117.60/week) but it will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.Your tax credits will then end once you claim UC.Does your PIP include the daily living part? If so your partner can report caring for you and your UC will include the carers element. If you’re in the support group for ESA then you’ll be entitled to the LCWRA from the start of your claim.Does your partners UC already include the LCWRA element for their self?0 -
He needs to report a change through his UC journal.
You will be required to claim UC.
Your claim will be joined to his which will now be calculated as a couple.
Your Tax Credits will stop immediately.
If you get contribution based ESA that will continue but will be deducted from the UC payments.
Any income based ESA will stop two weeks after you claim (actually I'm not sire if the two week run on applies in the case of forming a couple).
Your child benefit and PIP are not affected.
If you are in the ESA Support group you are entitled to be treated as having LCWRA for which extra money is paid in UC. However if your partner gets LCWRA already only one of you can get the LCWRA element.
If your PIP includes Daily Living component he could claim the carer element of UC for looking after you while having the LCWRA element included for you.
If you currently live alone and get a single person discount on your Council Tax then you need to tell your council and you will lose the single person discount.
If you claim Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction you need to tell the local authority benefits team. Housing Benefit will stop but help with rent will instead been included through UC.0 -
@poppy123456 with my pip i have daily living and mobility my partner is already on pip and Lwrca for himself. Will it all stop when we claim together x0

Both your PIP awards will continue as normal. As advised you can only receive 1 LCWRA element per claim. So if one receives that element the other can claim the carers element, this way you'll receive the maximum UC for your circumstances.Does your partners PIP include the daily living part? If part of your ESA is Income Related does it include the Severe disability Premium? If so then when you claim UC it will include the SDP transitional protection.0

OP, your joint income is likely to be quite a bit less than when you lived apart but this will be offset by the reduction in your overheads living together (one set of bills).0 -

Found this
https://askcpag.org.uk/content/206411/the-new-transitional-sdp-elementThere are two conditions that must be met by the claimant, or each of the joint claimants, for a transitional SDP element to be included in the calculation of the UC award.I haven’t got the energy to track through the legislative background at the moment!
The first condition is that the UC award was not made as a consequence of the claimant becoming a member of a couple with someone already entitled to a UC award.0 -
Thanks Calcotti, I did see that CPAG link after my last comment here as I looked myself but didn’t get chance to post.No need to find the legislation. Again my apologies for giving incorrect information!0
