Hello all I’m new here, Well today I received a Letter from the DWP Compliance Officer.. I’ve never heard of them and on the letter they have got my Title wrong they put Miss and I am a MS also it does not state my national insurance number and a random mobile number to call them at the bottom, Could this be bogus as I wouldn’t of thought DWP would have got my Title wrong, Could anyone explain what a Compliance Officer is too please Thank you all

As far as I understand, Compliance Officers check whether people are claiming the right benefits, and that their circumstances haven't changed.
I can imagine that getting a letter out of the blue might be confusing and concerning, and it's important to stay vigilant with so many scams about.
Perhaps you could ring the relevant DWP office, and check whether this is legitimate?

I don't think calling you Miss instead of Ms is any indication that this is a scam. I like to be known as Ms too but DWP usually send letters addressed to Miss.Yes, it's usually a mobile number they ask you to ring when ringing the number on the letter. If bank statements are needed they will likely ask you to send them to DWP.1

ESA may not have any information about the compliance interview so please be aware of that. If bank statements are needed then they will allow time for you to send them.

I've never had a compliance interview letter so i don't know if there's usually your NI number on it. A reference number will link it to you though.I do know that usually the number to ring will be directly to the compliance officer.0

We have a couple of members that have had a compliance interview that are still active. Actually someone received one quite recently.Hopefully they will comment if they see this. They will be able to tell you for certain if the number to ring is a mobile, I’m fairly certain it is.1
