Will I lose housing benifit

Hi all I hope I’m in the right category, 

here goes, I claim u/c LCWRA and have full rate pip now on both daily living and mobility, I wanted my son to move in with me to be my carer, he will have to claim u/c himself as well as the carers allowance, the question is will I lose my housing benifit and council tax reduction if he does legally move in with me, thank you so much

    As you're claiming UC then the only time you'll be claiming housing benefit is if you're living in either supported or temporary housing. If not then your rent will be paid as part of UC known as housing element. They are both completely different benefits.

    As you're claiming PIP daily living then your housing element will not be reduced if your son moves in with you. If you're renting from social housing and you have a spare bedroom at the moment then you will not longer be affected by the bedroom tax.

    If you're privately renting and currently live alone if your son moves in then you'll be entitled to the 1 bedroom rate of local housing allowance.

    If he claims UC for himself then he will be excluded if he has savings/capital of more than £16,000. If he doesn't then he can claim UC. If he claims carers allowance as well as UC then it will just be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. When he claims UC he can report being your carer and his UC will include carers element.

    Does he currently claim any benefits? or does he work?

    Hi poppy and thanks for your help I live in a housing association flat they have only just had the bedroom tax sorted, he doesn’t claim any benefits, he has just been laid off work, and actually is against me getting any outside carers as he want to look after me himself
