Wow, I didn’t expect this to get so many replies - what a lovely, supportive group of people. Thank you all.

Brenda - I’m so sorry for your experience, it seems it’s not uncommon at all.

Sue - Thank you for the welcome, I’ll have a look around.

Jay - I’m sorry you had that experience, that’s exactly what it felt like: assumptions being made. The assessor asked me what I’d do in hypothetical, impossible situations that I’d never even think of putting myself in, and didn’t seem to like my answers. Looks like we have a long wait ahead of us.

That's why this forum is the best on line group ever people, were here for each other together, so we do not feel alone or isolated. It's the best thing i've ever done.

Hi everyone, so glad I found this site. Just had my pip renewal telephone consultation. I'm so totally drained and like so many of you I feel my assessor rushed me and didn't pay attention to much of what I said. She even told me to keep it short so she could type it up.She told me she would go over things in more detail at the end of questions but this never happened. I'm now going over things and wish I'd said more. I didn't let anxiety or nerves get the better of me but didn't feel listened to and am dreading if I have to do a mandatory reconsideration.

I'm sorry you didn't think the assessment went as well as you were hoping for. We have a lot of members that often think it didn't go well and go onto be awarded.

It's very difficult to cover all the things we want to during those assessments. It's also very easy to forget to tell them some things. This is one of the reasons why filling out the forms with as much relevant information is also very important because this is always the time to get your point accross to them.

Doing this will then mean that you don't need to go into too much detail during the assessment. Or even a possible paper based assessment if you gave enough evidence on the form. Though they are rare, it is possible to have them.

Once the report is returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks.

Thankyou for taking time to reply. I did go into a lot of detail on my forms including a 7 day diary. So maybe this will help.

I feel like I got lucky reading all these comments. My assessor was kind and I didn't feel she was trying to trip me up at all amd she gave me time to answer.  I did pull back from waffling and kept that in mind. I didn't try to "sell" myself, I was just honest, referred to my notes and gave real world examples.

I've found the process and timescales to be very smooth in my case, so I hope that might give some people hope.

I got a message confirming award this morning.

Is the first payment received after the confirmation letter arrives does anyone know? My private psychiatrist fees are rinsing me at the moment as still on NHS waiting lists!

Congratulations that must be such a relief! How long ago did you have your assessment?

I had mine on on Monday and yesterday I got a text saying the report had gone to the DWP. Now a long wait I guess.

I felt my assessment went well straight after - but since then I have been picking over parts of it and have convinced myself I have mucked it up. I am trying my best to forget but am doing the 'over thinking' bit.

Well done on getting your award!

Fingers crossed your wait wont be too long @Floof the waiting is the worst bit, so I'd highly recommend doing things to keep your mind busy.

It's not nice @NoOne, but the good thing about the community is you won't be the only one feeling that way. Lots of members have been through it too if you need to chat 😊
