When researching ancestry, it is great to look at newspaper archives if you can :)

My ancestors are also miners, farmers, laborer's...etc and some liked a drink. And ended up in the paper for all sorts of trouble 😂

@Hannah_Scope that reminds me one of my (quite recent, relatively) ancestors was a miner and had one eye...apparently he found it funny to release the mine cart and someone lost a hand because of it...in exchange he took a lantern smashed across his head and lost an eye...no further action taken by either side - it was considered that justice had been done :D different times

@66Mustang That's crazy! 😲 Do you know if that made the paper?!

@Sandy_123 You can get newspapers as part of some of the ancestry page subscriptions. But other's let you purchase as you go, which is handy!

@Hannah_Scope no idea if it made a paper, will have to check!

I think "an eye for an eye" justice (sort of literally in this case!) was quite common in those days though, wouldn't surprise me if it was just part of life!!!

@66Mustang I wouldn't be surprised from that kind of work either. Many wouldn't have the money to go through the courts.

It's been a nightmare,I've honestly lost the will to live.

I was thinking of doing the sitting room before Christmas but I think I'll leave it until next year.

@Lou67 my Mum is the same, she loves walking but her knee makes her suffer for it, she is too young for a new knee apparently

Oh she has my total sympathy, I had arthritis in my knees since my early 40s, I got my first knee replacement last year when I was 55. I hope she gets some help soon with it.

Evening everyone I hope yous have a nice night.

Im not sure if yous will remember me telling yous about the black marks on my ceilings and walls, and the black soot everywhere. Well it’s still not sorted.
I had a friend off my brothers come to look at it at the weekend he’s a chartered surveyor.
He sd they should never have put new insulation in the loft on top off the old stuff that is dust and soot.
So he sent me an email saying they need to remove all insulation then get the loft cleaned and hoovered out, then my walls wiped down before getting painted with a certain paint.
He also sd they need to get my furniture and blinds either professionally cleaned or renewed.
So the first complaint is in with them.Im Hoping his findings will get things moving.

Sorry for the long post 🙄
