Jeez so it's a very long haul waiting game!
No timescale is ridiculous.  If the decision maker can't make a decision then maybe they need new ones!

I do think they could have looked at the issues when PIP was introduced and considered having extra staff for the first 12 months to help with the increased starting workload. Though, I am saying this with hindsight.

Well today I received my award for standard rate. 3 points from getting enhanced rate. I'm going to appeal straight away as feel it should have been the enhanced rate due to my conditions.  Happy it's  been dealt with eventually though even if its been over 6 months

I applied April 25. Award letter says backdated money will be paid Tuesday. Its all to do with the post.as it's sent 2nd class. If letter is late any money owed will be in account before you recieve it. My letter came within 3 days..

@vonny_23 I was told on Monday a decision had already been made. But I won’t get letter for another few weeks. Weird. Then I went on the chat last night and they said they seen a decision had been made but no award letter attached to my file!!! Why does it feel like everything I do there’s always a drama or a situation

Nikkibee68 Yes, that seems strange.  I'd phone again on Monday morning and ask what's going on. Once the decision has been made, it's passed on to the payment section, so you may still get your backdated money before the award letter. My friend received her payments 1 week before the award letter arrived . The added stress isn't necessary for you or anyone in this situation . My decision was made on the 18th and payment due 24th. When was your decision made? As I'd check your account 1 week from then 🤞

Well called this morning. Nothing on system about letter coming or decision been made. But I spoke to case manager who told me herself decision HAD BEEN MADE , previous to last monday
Honesty this whole thing is a joke. Get told one thing then another then back to beginning

If you have the case managers name I'd ask for a call back from her. Someone somewhere has mucked it up or its lack of communication 🙄.  Hope it's sorted quickly for you

For me it's the waiting with no updates. Then a different story each time you call. I was initially told 10 -12 weeks then 16 weeks then 6 months then over 6 months and the other day I was told probably wouldn't hear anything before January/ February! All my paperwork and evidence was logged onto system 18th June '23.
No fore thought to lay on extra staff to clear the initial influx. No thought to digitise so we can check online at our progress or lack of or any other evidence needed.
There is an added mental stress waiting and wondering and panicking they are going to decide you are OK even though you know you aren't.
It surely doesn't need to be this difficult??

I've just received back payment of over £2000, still not received the letter yet but when I rang they said a letter had been sent second class so hopefully I'll receive the letter soon. Nearly 8 months I was waiting for this decision. I was receiving just standard rate care but I'll have to wait for the letter to see what I've been changed to. It was a severely long wait but I'm glad it's finally been sorted. Keep persevering with them and ring them if necessary to chase them up.

It seems like to me that more people have applied than they thought there would be so the backlogs increased significantly in the past 4 or 5 months.

I remember way back in 2013 when PIP was introduced the backlogs were about 10 to 11 months by around about August 2013. I remember it well because I was also waiting at that time.

I think even if you could check the process online there would still be anxiety and stress with the whole waiting process.

For PIP they started sending updates by text but this caused more stress and more questions asking what does that text mean.

There’s not much anyone can do while they wait other than to try to think about something else. Not easy I know…

Remember that the people who have for the first time applied for ADP and received 8 points or more on mobility you are also able to apply for a Blue Badge for disabled parking and a bus pass. I applied for both of mine on Saturday when I received my award letter and have been accepted for both.  Also carers allowance if you are entitled. I won't get it as my Husband works full-time with a decent wage even though he looks after me when he's not at work
