Hi @Gooner0605 - looking online, for benefits earned up to 1 April 2012 you are likely with the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme (RMSPS) paid by Capita, & after that date with the Royal Mail Pension Plan (RMPP).With the RMSPS, under schemes A, B, & C it says:''If you are too ill to work at any time, you may be able to take your benefits early (without any reduction) on ill health grounds.
You will need to provide medical evidence to take your benefits in this way. You cannot be engaged in any employment at the time you apply for, or receive, these benefits. The RMSPS Scheme Manager will consider your claim. If you have benefits in the RMPP and the RMSPS, the RMPP Trustees (RMPTL) will decide if you qualify for an ill health early retirement pension.
In order to establish whether you qualify for immediate payment of your benefits on illhealth grounds, you will need to apply to us using the contact details on p21''For RMPP it says,''If you retire at any age through ill health, you’ll be eligible to receive the actual amount of the Cash Balance benefit you’ve built up to that point – i.e. not reduced to reflect early payment. The Company decides whether you meet the test for ill health. Broadly, it requires a permanent inability to do your job based on a medical opinion.
In addition to the above benefit, you may receive extra payments from the Company – please contact your HR Service Centre to find out about these.''
Sorry I can only find that basic info. -
Hello @Gooner0605, looks like chiarieds has already done some lovely research for you, but just wanted to pop in to say hello.
You might also want to try having a conversation or writing an email to the HR department to see if they can offer you any advice on how it works and let you know what the next steps would be. They will have a bit more information available and should be able to point you in the right direction
