    Hi there

Assessment reports are randomly chosen for audit it isn't you that is being audited it 8s the quality of reports the assessors have done that is being audited

All this means for you is there will be a delay in your report going to dwp for a decision to be made

Thankyou for explaining this I thought I had done something wrong as I felt my assessment went quite well . Does this audit delay things by days /weeks /months ?

Hard to say really depends on how quickly they do the audit but from when other members have had this i would estimate 2 to 4 week delay

Then the estimated time for a decision is 8 to 10 weeks

So unfortunately it maybe a while before you get a decision

Hi @sheree2003 and a warm welcome to our community, how are you doing?

I'm so glad you asked this question as a lot of people come to us having heard their report is going through audit, and fearing the worst.  Just to reassure you, it is absolutely routine and nothing for you to worry about at all.  This 'PIP assessment guide part 3' section 3.4 outlines how it's to check the quality of the report produced by the assessor:
3.4.2 Audit has a central role in ensuring that decisions on benefit entitlement, taken by DWP, are correct. It supports this by confirming that independent HP advice complies with the required standards and that it is clear and medically reasonable. It also provides assurance that any approach to assessment and opinion given is consistent so that, irrespective of where or by whom the assessment is carried out, claimants with conditions that have the same functional effect will ultimately receive the same benefit outcome.
Fingers crossed for you a positive outcome and keep in mind that the pressures the PIP system is currently under might mean a bit of a wait for a decision.

Just to let you know, I've amended the title of your thread to help others with a similar worry spot it in the future.  Good luck.

Quick update didn't take that long in audit as had message from dwp saying they have my written report . Phoned and asked for report to be sent . I'm so nervous first time applying and have read so many horror stories of assesors not being truthful in reports .

Some people do have negative experiences, but of course many people have positive experiences too @sheree2003. You're more likely to read about the negative experiences as not as many people who have a positive experience will end up posting about it online.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about it too much until you receive your decision letter. You can always appeal if you're not awarded what you think you're entitled to, so there are options :)

You commented on a thread that's almost 2 years old. They sometimes send a text once the report is returned but not always. It will be impossible to predict whether you'll be awarded at this stage.

Hi there I know this is an old thread but I’m hoping someone will see it, my aunt had telephone pip assessment 3 weeks ago, I missed a call from capita and when I phoned back they said that her report had went to audit, and that it’s pending adjustment, but no one has ever phoned back what does this mean. Many thanks x

I answered your question on another thread with this reply….

The audit is nothing for anyone to worry about. It just means they are checking the assessor did their job correctly. If there’s errors or contradictions in the report then yes it can be returned to the assessor to change it.

Once the audit is complete it will be returned to DWP and then a decision can take up to 12 weeks. Unfortunately there’s nothing more to do but wait.
