I have Athetoid Cerebral Palsy, in some ways I am lucky I have 3 degrees and a great partner but finding it hard to kick start a career, a Phd was thought too much stress and most junior jobs need verbal communication. I hope I can help younger people and maybe get advice from those in work.

Hi Jess. I just read your blog post. I wondered, how is the job hunting going? Did you manage to find anything that suits you yet? I am currently doing a PhD. You're right it's stressful! But I am also stressed about the future and finding a job which will fit with my disability (chronic fatigue syndrome). At least at uni I can be flexible with my hours and work from home mostly. It's funny what you say about needing communication skills for work in your blog post. So much of what I do and did when I was at work before I went back to studying was done via email. It can be a much more efficient way of communicating as people think more clearly and concisely. I do hope you have found something that you are enjoying! Lizzie : )

hey so nice to hear from you, I'm also fairly jealous about your phd-well done. I just ended a great contract with a company working from home but unfortunately are only recruiting top people long term- your phd will really help that. I think key is to keep emailing companies you're interested in.

Better get back to it. Let me know if you need any help :-)
