My family are having the family up on Christmas Eve for canapés and cocktails and it's just the 6 of us for Christmas Day and on Boxing Day we will be recovering

Having cooked ham and drinks around the fire on Christmas Eve. Opening presents on Christmas morning then having grumpy relative (who really triggers my anxiety) over around midday, she's going home on the 27th. I will personally be responsible for ensuring her glass is never empty because with a drink inside her she is a lot less confrontational and dare I say it reasonably good company. Having some other family round on Boxing Day for beef.

'We will be recovering'
For me it's the usual mad Christmas,15 adults and 5 children. Not a huge fan but it's the only real day a year we see each other together. Christmas Eve I will be returning home from a mini-break that I'm going to on Thursday. It has been a very busy few weeks so well needed.
I hope everyone here has a peaceful weekend and day, although I will be popping on to wish you all well again on the actual day! -
My brother will be coming home for Christmas
Got the Turkey Dash (what we call food collection) on the 23rd and either that day or Christmas Eve will be seeing kids in the family to give them their presents

I go visit my dad on Christmas morning and we give each other our cards and then watch a movie at his house together, then I go back home in the afternoon and relax alone for the rest of the day, have a long hot bath with candles and sometimes eat a little too much chocolate

It was just going to be me and my partner for the day, but now we've got a couple of people joining us who would otherwise be alone, so that'll be nice. Four of us for Christmas dinner, then we extra friends arriving in the evening for snacks, drinks and games if we're still able to function by then!
And this year I'm not doing all the cooking, so I can sit back and relax. Or hide in my room to avoid the chaos, one or the otherRosie (she/her)

It will be like any other day. Me and Betty my dog until ptr gets up around 3-4pm. So special food or gifts or booze or folk.
But that’s fine. Christmas is for children and families.
I’m use to it.
And i I don’t drink -
No doubt my daughter will get me up early as always on Christmas morning. She opens her presents first and then i open mine. Then we open what's around the christmas tree. Once all that is done, it's time for an early morning nap.We are going to my daughters for Christmas dinner again this year so there will be 5 adults and 2 children. We will go late morning so the children can open their presents first. Usually it's a mad house Christmas is definitely for children and i can't wait to see their faces.Late afternoon we will return home for a relaxing evening. Boxing Day it's over to my son in law's mother house for a buffet.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Just the two of us for most of the two days, Christmas Day night we have two friends/neighbours round for drinks and a bite to eat, Boxing Day will be taking the puppy for a decent walk if weather ok and I can see well enough, on Thursday this week we have been invited for a meal by another neighbour as she is away for Christmas, but she will come to us New Years ever otherwise she would be home alone.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

I will be home alone this Christmas, which I don't mind at all, my head needs it. Start my day with a homemade low carb Baileys, then dinner will be regular Xmas fayre, prawn cocktail at 12ish, then I have a turkey thigh, which is boned, stuffed, wrapped in streaky & in the freezer ready to go, along with some cavolo nero at 6ish. then I will have a homemade low carb mince pie. I will even wear a cracker hat, if I can find the crackers. The TV will, as usual, serve up repeats of repeats of repeats, so I have that covered with recordings of things I want to watch, sorted!Merry Christmas everyone. 🥂

Oh, I'm liking the prawn cocktail, one of my favourites @JessieJ can I have a virtual one? I'm fortunate that my son is cooking Christmas dinner, & for once we will actually have this on Christmas Day (his wife normally works on Christmas Day). So, I'm very much looking forward to a relaxing Christmas Day, & not having to cook.

Christmas morning son, daughter in law and grandson for good old fry up that hubby will make 😀 then they will go on their way to daughter in laws parents house.
I'm very lucky that our son and daughter in law share Christmas day one year ours for dinner then following year breakfast 🍳
Then youngest son and his boyfriend will join us around 3ish for Christmas Dinner 🍽 😋
Then I will likely be done in and will need to make my excuses and retire to bed as it does take a lot out of me plus it is so out my comfort zone I take a lot of pain relief to get me through the day (not that I will ever let my kids know that) thankfully hubby watches me and knows when it's getting a bit much for me.
Anyway I hope every one has a lovely day 😊Knowing When to walk away is Wisdom, being able is courage, walking away with your head held high is dignity. -
On Christmas Eve my son and son in law come and pick up their families gifts from me, they bring me gifts so I can open on Christmas morning.
Then about 12ish my son and his family will pick me up to go to my daughters to see her my son in law and the kids.
Its also my daughters birthday so double the celebrations 🎉
It’ll be buzzing with kids and Christmas music on the tv.
Around about 3 o’clock I will be going to my mums and have dinner around 4ish with her and my oldest granddaughter.
Then i will come home about 6 get my new pjs on relax and watch some telly and probably doze off for a bit lol
I will off course be coming on and off here throughout the day to chat with any off my friends that are on.Enjoy your day everyone 😘❤️ -
@Lou67 nothing better than new pj's especially on Christmas evening 🌃Knowing When to walk away is Wisdom, being able is courage, walking away with your head held high is dignity.

First year in a while we aren't having dinner with the family on Christmas Day itself. We're doing Boxing Day instead.
So, figured we'd do something that is "traditional" for my partner on Christmas Day. Chinese food! Gonna cook up our own takeaway.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

Opinions are my own, such as mashed potato being bad. -

Sure you can, I'll make extra, @chiarieds! It's been a family tradition since I can't remember when. It was always dad that made it, he was like a sorcerer with all the bottles he had out for the sauce. He used to make a lot, as, of course, we had to all test it. -
Just a normal day with my mum she doesn't under stand Xmas birthdays and things like thst any more her dementia has deteriorated alot

My christmas is going to be truly dreadful this year. Those who have read about my sis Tina, know she passed away in 2021. Since her passing, I have been looking after our mother24/7. She was 93yrs and could not understand why Tina went before her. I was grateful to have mum during the last two years, since Tina gone. Mum was a tad confused but she was a rock and kept going till this August she went to join Tina. I am now the last blood. Tinas death now hits me hard, as I thought I would have her atb this time. Totally alone, even cat and dogless. I have had invites ,but you can feel alone in a room full of people. So I have decide to just sit it out, and remember happy times and grateful Ive had them. I only put up a tree because I knew Tina would want me too. It isnt the most modern tree, full of old decorations, handed down through the years. Ladybirds ( tinas fave) and campervans adorn it. Campervan being the icon of our family, to stash all the paraphernalia , like Tinas wheelchairs etc for travelling. We spent 10 years taking her up to Craig-Y-Parc school in Wales and then Dame Hannah Rogers in Plymouth. We camped out in it in Wales, to be near her in a farmer thomas field. Tina watched the cows being milked, as Dad sat her on the half barn door. Out the way! the farmer cried, cows coming out!.Dad picked Tina up in his arms and took 3 steps backwards into a pile of cowpats, came right up to his shorts and god forbid , Tina didnt fall in it herself, she was about 8yrs. Dad had to drive home in the same clothes .oh the smell, all the way home. Its these little things that mean so much to me now.
